Smith Tries to Fight Back

Dan Smith raised to 70,000 on the button and Christoph Vogelsang defended from the big blind. The flop came     and Vogelsang check-called a bet of 45,000 from Smith.

The turn was the   and Vogelsang checked again. Smith fired out another bet of 210,000 and Vogelsang laid his hand down.

A couple of hands later, Vogelsang opened to 70,000 and Smith countered with a three-bet to 270,000 which got Vogelsang to step aside.

Vogelsang puts Smith into the Tank on the River, Extends Lead

Christoph Vogelsang opened to 60,000 and Dan Smith elected to fire a three-bet worth 250,000. Vogelsang elected to call and see a flop.

The flop came     and Smith chose to check. After a minute, Vogelsang put 125,000 chips in front of him. Smith called.

An   appeared on the turn and following Smith's initial check, the German tapped the table as well.

The   completed the board and with 750,000 chips already in the middle, Smith checked once more and Vogelsang decided to bet 475,000 after a roughly 90-second tank.

Smith deliberated for two minutes and, with a grimace on his face, decided to put the cards into the muck.

Small Pot Battles

Dan Smith opened to 60,000 on the button and Christoph Vogelsang three-bet to 260,000 in the big blind. Smith looked back at his cards before sending them to the muck.

On the next hand, Vogelsang made it 60,000 to go and Smith just called. The flop fell     and Smith checked to Vogelsang who continued for 35,000. Smith called and the   rolled off on the turn.

Smith checked again and Vogelsang checked it back this time. The river was the   and Smith splashed in a bet of 100,000. Vogelsang made a quick fold and Smith raked in the pot.

Vogelsang off to Early Lead over Smith

Christoph Vogelsang opened to 50,000 and was met with a 200,000 chip three-bet from Dan Smith. Vogelsang called as they went to the     flop.

Smith opted to check and Vogelsang went for a bet of 125,000. Smith called.

The   hit the board and, after a minute, Vogelsang continued for 250,000 more. Smith called once again as the pot ballooned to 1.15 million.

The   arrived on the river and both players quickly tapped the table, with Vogelsang's    good enough to take down the pot and the early advantage.

Kevin Rabichow made it 130,000 on the button and Christoph Vogelsang re-raised to 420,000 in the big blind. Rabichow called and the flop fell    . Vogelsang continued with a bet of 250,000 and Rabichow called to see the   on the turn.

It took Vogelsang nearly three minutes to push out a bet of 525,000 on the turn but Rabichow still called. The river was the   and Vogelsang thought for another three minutes before jamming all in. Rabichow had just over 800,000 chips remaining and quickly called it off.

Vogelsang flipped over    for top pair while Rabichow clearly had his mind made up as he tabled   . Rabichow was eliminated and will be forced to settle for a fourth-place finish while Vogelsang will be moving on to the final later this evening.
