Marco Johnson Leads The Final 11 in Event #73: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo Eight or Better Championship

After seven additional levels of play in Event #73: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo Eight or Better Championship, the 88 remaining players (eighty from Day 1 plus eight additional entries at the beginning of Day 2) have been reduced to just 11 with Marco Johnson standing tall as chip leader after bagging 1.4 million in chips.

Johnson will be seeking his third WSOP bracelet after having come runner-up in the $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship just a few weeks ago.

Not far behind Johnson are Yuval Bronshtein (1,332,000) and Brian Hastings (1,093,000) — both of whom managed to bag over a million in chips.

In total, there were 144 entries for the event – generating a $1,342,800 prize pool with the eventual winner taking home $352,958 in addition to a WSOP gold bracelet.

Some players who began day 2 but failed to cash include Matt Glantz, Joseph McKeehen, Anthony Zinno, Julien Martini, Ben Yu, Maria Ho, Kane Kalas, and Yehuda Buchalter, who was eliminated on the bubble after his remaining chips were chopped up by Ian O'Hara and Alex Livingston.

Some notables who managed to cash include Eli Elezra (22nd - $16,340), Mike Watson (20th - $16,340), Ashly Butler (17th - $17,872), and Shaun Deeb (13th - $22,536), who fell to Erik Seidel's straight flush late in the day.

The final 11 players will return tomorrow at 3 p.m. local time and will play down until a winner. The level will start at 18 (20,000-40,000 limits with a 5,000 ante) and each level will continue to last 90 minutes each. Players will get a 10-minute break after each level and a 60-minute dinner break at the players' discretion.

Michael Laake pushed his last few remaining chips into the middle on fourth street and was called by Ian O'Hara.

The cards were tabled and it was a pair of aces held by O'Hara in the lead against Laake's pair of deuces and low draws.

The dealer ran the cards out and things ended as they began with O'Hara in the lead with his now improved two pairs, aces and fours, and Laake was eliminated in 12th place and took home $22,536 in cash for his effort.

After being left short-stacked in the previous hand against Johnson, Deeb was all-in for less than an ante and headed to fourth street along with Seidel, Johnson, and Laake.

The betting was led by Seidel with both Johnson and Laake having called each street.

On seventh street, Seidel fired one final big bet and both gentlemen called and mucked after being shown the bad news when Seidel tabled a seven-high straight flush for the scoop, which in turn eliminated Deeb in 13th place for which he took home $22,536 in cash.
