Acuna Eliminated, Penalty Issued in Controversial Hand
Gilbert Acuna was eliminated in a controversial hand that began with a preflop raising war between Acuna and Sondre Bjornebekk.
Acuna checked on the flop of and Bjornebekk moved all-in with approximately 100,000 already in the middle.
"Oh, you've got aces," Acuna said before flipping his hand face-up and showing .
Bjornebekk flipped over and Acuna then tossed in a chip for a call, claiming that he had not called yet when he flipped over his hand.
Bjornebekk accused his opponent of angling by tabling his hand before making a decision and Acuna denied the accusation. The floor was called over and ruled that the Acuna's call would stand and gave the player a one-round penalty for exposing his hand.
The turn brought the and Bjornebekk clapped as he improved to a flush and held after the river.
"Karma," he said after winning the hand.
As it turned out, Acuna would not be around for his one-round penalty as Bjornebekk had him slightly covered and he was sent to the rail.
