Kanit Forced to Fold; Loses Chip Lead

Mustapha Kanit

Mustapha Kanit has been cruising through the day, but his potential status as day-end chip leader has been put into question following a recent hand.

Kanit opened to 4,100 in early position and was three-bet by the player in the big blind to 15,000. Kanit called and the duo saw a flop of    .

The big blind fired again for 8,000 on the flop, and Kanit called in position.

Simao Tanks For Ten Minutes

The board read      and there was a pot of about 55,000 in the middle. Joao Simao was in the big blind and was facing an all in shove from his opponent for her remaining 82,000.

He was already in the tank for a couple of minutes as he entered an even deeper tank. Several times it looked like he was about to make a decision, only to sit back and go into neutral again. He stared down his opponent who sat motionless. The players at the table stood around and seemed content to allow the tank.

Finally after a full ten minutes, as per the tournament clock, a player at the table called clock. The floor came over to administer the countdown and Simao finally folded with five seconds left on the countdown.
