Romano's Aces Become a Kicker

Jay Romano was ahead in a classic preflop all in cooler with    vs    of his opponent.

The board would keep Romano ahead in an unconventional way as it ran out       to give both players quad nines but the ace kicker of Romano ousted the player holding the king kicker as he got up and left the table while Romano stacked the big pot.

Carlton Eliminated

Everett Carlton

Everett Carlton hit the rail during Level 2 and players at the table filled PokerNews in on the action that led to his demise.

Carlton saw a flop of     in a three-bet pot against Sean Ragozzini. Carlton bet out on the flop and Ragozzini check-raised to get the rest of the chips in the middle, with Ragozzini being the player at risk.

Carlton held    but his opponent had    and had flopped a set. Carlton couldn't improve as the board ran out   .

Carlton was left with just 6,000 after the hand and busted shortly after.

Matusow Versus Koller

Mike Matusow

The action picked up three ways between Daniela Rodriguez in the hijack, Ran Koller on the button, and Mike Matusow in the big blind, with a board reading    .

Action checked to Koller who bet 900, getting a call from Matusow and a fold from Rodriguez.

The turn of   checked through and the river of   was bet at by Matusow to the tune of 1,000. Koller went into the tank and after about 30-seconds of thinking he tossed his hand into the muck, giving Matusow the pot.

Pocket Tens Turn Into Straight for Myers

There were three players that saw a     flop after an initial 800 raise and Gary Benson led out for 1,600 from under the gun.

Only Matt Myers called from middle position and the   turn was checked by both players to the   river. Benson led out for 2,000 and then called the 5,000 raise from Myers.

Myers announced straight and rolled over    to collect the pot.

Katz Folds to River Bet

Cary Katz was out of position in a heads-up pot and got to the river on a board of       with about 20,000 in the middle.

Katz checked and his heads-up opponent bet 9,200. Katz thought for a minute and mumbled something before folding.

Ran Koller faced a bet of 8,000 on a completed board of       with approximately 10,000 in the middle.

Koller tanked for a minute before deciding on a fold.

Koller won a bracelet earlier in this WSOP in Event #33: $800 Eight-Handed No-Limit Hold'em Deep Stack. But with that pot, he dips a little under his starting stack.

Sergio Aido raised to 800 preflop from the cutoff and got one caller from the button.

The board ran out       and it checked on every street until the river when Aido bet 600 to get a snap-fold from his opponent.

Jared Jaffee Spotted in a Pot

Jared Jaffee

The action was picked up preflop when Jared Jaffee raised to 800 and the big blind made the call.

Jaffee then said, "you're not going to make it 3,500 again." The flop then come     and the big blind checked again.

Jaffee fired again this time 500 and the big blind made the call. The river was   and the big blind checked again.

Jaffee bet 2,000 and the big blind quickly mucked his hand. Jaffee then scooped in the pot.

Hovenden Sends Badziakouski to the Tank

The board read      . With a pot of about 3,500 in the middle, Todd Hovenden bet 2,000 which made Mikita Badziakouski go into the tank.

He contemplated it for several moments before finally folding his hand and Hovenden tabled the    to answer some of the questions in Badziakouski's mind.

"Chan Checks it Right Back"

Johnny Chan

Johnny Chan dodged a bullet in a recent hand with Boris Bershadskiy.

According to the players, Bershadskiy raised to 900 in middle position and got called by Chan on the button and a player in the small blind.

The flop came     and action was checked to Chan who bet 1,500. only Bershadskiy called.

The turn brought the   and again, Bershadskiy checked to Chan, who this time bet 2,500. Again, Bershadskiy called.

On the river  , Bershadskiy checked a final time but this time, but Chan didn't bite.

"I have the nuts", said Bershadskiy as he rolled over    for the nut flush.

As Chan aided in describing the hand, he exuberantly asked to describe the river action as "and Chan checks it right back!"

Simao Five-Bets Preflop

Joao Simao

A player under the gun raised to 700 from middle position. The action folded to Joao Simao in the cutoff and he put in a three-bet to 2,100. It folded to the player in the big blind who called Simao's raise.

The original raiser in middle position then four-bet to 6,700. Simao then five-bet to 16,000 which got both his opponents to fold to scoop a decent pot preflop.

Action picked up on the turn with 2,200 in the middle and a board reading     . An out-of-position player bet 1,600 into Shaun Deeb who called.

The river came a   and the opponent bet 5,000 which Deeb snap-called. The opponent turned over   , Deeb nodded and tossed his cards into the muck.

Justin Bonomo opened to 900 in early position and the action folded to Schahin Ghiai in the cutoff, who three-bet to 2,700. Bonomo folded and it turned out to be the right move as his opponent showed   .
