After Mauro Lupo limped in from under the gun, action folded to Jeremy Joseph on the button, who raised to 36,000. The small blind called the raise before David Saab, in the big blind, reraised to 75,000. That brought the action back to Lupo, who promptly shoved for 457,000 total. Joseph and the small blind folded, but Saab made the call. Lupo:     Saab:     The flop came down       to bring Lupo a flush draw. He picked up an inside straight draw to go along with it on the   turn. "Here it comes," said Saab. "The suckout." Lupo had a pretty big draw going into the river, and hit one of his outs when the   hit to fill Lupo's flush.

Breaking the heart of every person covering the World Series of Poker, Deng Dong has been knocked out. He was all in for his last handful of chips with     and ran into pocket kings. The           board brought him no help and his Main Event came to an end.

We missed the early preflop action, but we did see Terry Stewart move in for his all 235,000 of his chips. He found a customer in the big blind, Nicholas Sliwinski, although it's probably one he wished he hadn't found. Stewart showed     against Sliwinski's    . Stewart couldn't come up with anything that would beat kings on a board of          .

Tiffany Michelle raised to 48,000 from middle position and Lonnie Heimowitz flat-called from the cutoff. The flop came     and both players checked. The turn was the   and Michelle fired out 50,000 which was called by Heimowitz. The river landed the   and Michelle bet out again, this time for 100,000. Heimowitz again made the call as Michelle flipped    for trip queens to take down the pot. Michelle is up to 1.78 million, with Heimowitz falling to 250,000 chips.

Matthew Jensen raised to 50,000 from late position and Ivan Demidov reraised to 145,000 from the cutoff. Jensen shoved for his last 318,000 and Demidov called, to find that his     was dominated by Jensen's    . The board ran out          , Jensen doubled to 780,000, and Demidov is down to 2.04 million.

We caught the action on the turn with the board reading     . All the chips were in the middle with Minna Ritakorpi showing    for the turned straight as Michael Carroll revealed    for a set of fives. The river was a repeat   to give Carroll a full house and eliminate Ritakorpi from the Main Event.

Robert Betts is out of the Main Event after failing to win a race. He put in the third raise, all in for 260,000, after Jeremy Joseph had opened the pot for 45,000 and David Saab had reraised to 125,000. Joseph folded to Saab, who started talking out loud, saying that he thought he might need to call and try to suck out on Betts due to all of the dead money in the pot. He did eventually make the call. Saab:     Betts:     While the ESPN cameras came over to the table, Betts explained that he shoved against Saab because he felt Saab had been making some strange moves today. It didn't matter what this thinking was when the board ran out           to make two pair, queens and threes, for Saab against Betts' smaller two pair. Mark Vos had wandered over to the table to watch the hand. As he was leaving, Saab stood up and yelled, "Vos, I'm coming for you!" Saab has 1,750,000 in chips.

Brent Sheirbon pushed in his last 174,000 before the flop and Alexander Kostritsyn made the call. His     held the lead over Sheirbon's     and when the board ran out           Sheribon saw his tournament come to an end. Kostritsyn is now back up to 1.74 million.

With a board showing      , Scott Montgomery fired out a bet of 150,000 into a pot of roughly 200,000. Jens Klaning thought for a while, then made the call. Montgomery turned over    for two pair, and Klaning mucked. Montgomery has moved up past the two million mark, while Klaning is now down to 272,000.

Pontus Khosravi can say he got his money in with the best of it. After Toni Judet opened the pot with a raise to 40,000, Khosravi reraised from late position to 110,000. Action folded back to Judet, who thought briefly before moving all in. Khosravi, who had fewer chips than Judet, almost beat him into the pot when he called with    . Judet had been making a move with    , but was rewarded when the flop came down      . Khosravi couldn't come up with anything better than a single pair when the board bricked out    . "Sorry," said Judet. "I'm ashamed to show that hand." Shame or not, he moves over the two-million-chip mark.

Before the flop Karen Manfrede moved in for her last 100,000 and Matthew Jensen called from the cutoff and Scott Montgomery from the small blind. After the       flop Jense bet out and Montgomery folded, and that's when Manfrede saw that her     had been well and truly crushed by Jensen's     and flopped full house. The     did not bring the required miracle and Manfrede was out.

An unusually quiet hand for Phil Hellmuth. Sitting in the small blind, he called a raise to 30,000 from the player with the button, Cort Kibler-Melby. Both players checked the       flop. On the turn  , Hellmuth took a stab with a bet of 62,000, but Kibler-Melby raised him to 124,000. Hellmuth called. On the river  , Hellmuth fired again for 200,000. Kibler-Melby made a crying call to see Hellmuth turn over     for a full house, threes full of nines. His chip stack has increased to about 1,140,000.
Saturday, July 12, 2008 3:20 PM Local Time
With the board reading         Sylvain Coeur moved all in for 220,000 with his     and flush draw. But Will Brewin had turned trips holding     and when the river brought the   Coeur was eliminated.

Jeremy Joseph just shipped 275,000 chips to David Saab without taking a flop. Joseph raised to 40,000 from the cutoff before Saab reraised from the button to 120,000. Action folded back to an undeterred Joseph, who put in the third raise to 275,000. That didn't faze Saab in the slightest -- he moved all in for about 830,000. Joseph was finally the player to blink first when he mucked his hand.
Saturday, July 12, 2008 3:12 PM Local Time
Chris Zapf picked up aces at the same time Jason Glass held     and when the board ran out           Zapf's aces held up and he doubled to 640,000. Glass is now down to 440,000.
Saturday, July 12, 2008 3:11 PM Local Time
From early position, Mark Owens raised it up to 50,000. Alex Tinsley shoved behind him for 157,000 total. Action folded back to Owens, who made the call with    . Tinsley opened     for the preflop lead. He took the post-flop lead as well on a board of      . Owens caught a pair when the turn came  , but the river   settled the score in Tinsley's favor. He doubled up to 330,000 on the hand courtesy of Owens, who is down to 770,000.

If you followed our coverage of last year's Main Event, you might remember we brought you the occasional update on what a chop would be worth to the remaining players at various stages of the tournament. The feedback we got was positive, so we figured we'd try it again. Keep in mind that no deals have been discussed and that these scenarios are purely hypothetical and are reported mainly for entertainment purposes to give you a rough idea of how the prize pool would look if it were spread evenly. The results will often surprise you. So with just 140 players remaining, if all of them were to agree to call it a day and split the remaining prize pool evenly, they'd each walk away with $348,735. That is just slightly more than 16th-place money.
