Event #54: 10,000 No-Limit Hold'em MAIN EVENT Championship

Action folded around to Jason Glass in late position and he raised to 44,000. Mikael Johansson moved all in for 220,000 from the cutoff seat and when action folded back to Glass, he made the call. The players showed: Glass:     Johansson:     Despite flopping an inside straight draw, and turning a "double gutter," Johansson got no help from the           board and was eliminated in 141st place. Glass took down the pot and now works with a stack of just over 700,000 chips.

Victor Ramdin opened the pot with a raise to 42,000. He was called by Nikolay Losev and Sylvain Coeur before recently crippled Deng Dong raised all in for a total of 50,000 from the big blind. All three players made the call for a four-way flop that came      . The action checked through to the   turn. Ramdin and Losev again checked to Coeur, who shoved all in for about 300,000. Ramdin went into the tank for several minutes before finally, reluctantly, folding his hand. Losev also got out of the way, allowing Coeur to take his 300,000 back and battle Dong for the main pot. Dong:     Coeur:     Dong showed a made flush against Coeur's turned two pair. The river   made Dong the winner and brought an exasperated groan from Victor Ramdin, who said he folded     and would have made a royal flush. Regardless, Dong quadrupled up to about 200,000.

After a       flop, the last of Andy Schultz's 320,000 ended up in the middle as he'd flopped top pair with    . But Greg Byard had all sorts of outs holding    , and, after picking up even more outs when the   hit on the turn, Greg caught the   on the river to make his flush and knock Schultz out of the tournament.

Owen Crowe has been very quiet so far today, so much so that he often goes unnoticed seated in between the fast-talking Chino Rheem and Mike Matusow. However, he recently got involved in some action with a raise preflop to 37,000. Phi Nguyen made the call, as did Cristian Dragomir from the small blind. The flop came     and Dragomir checked to Crowe, who fired out 66,000. Nguyen announced a raise, making it 216,000 to go. Dragomir thought for a long time before giving up his hand. Crowe made the call. The turn was the   and Crowe checked to Nguyen, who fired out a healthy 270,000 chips. Crowe deliberated and made the call. The river was the   and both players quickly checked. Crowe showed    to take down the pot and move to over 1.3 million chips.

Albert Kim picked up cowboys at the wrong time. He raised to 45,000 from early position. Mark Owens popped it up to 145,000. Everyone else folded back to Kim, who raised enough to put Owens all in. He snap-called and tabled pocket rockets. Kim flopped a set, but so did Owens when the flop came down      . The turn and river fell    , allowing Owens' set of aces to hold up. He moves up to 970,000, while Kim drops down to 1,275,000.

It looked like Will Brewin was about to exit the tournament when he was all in before the flop with     to Deng Dong's     and the flop came      . But the   on the river gave Brewin an open-ended straight draw and the runner-runner came in as he spiked the   on the river double up to 325,000. Dong is now down to just 50,000.

Players have returned from break and the cards are back in the air. There are currently 144 players remaining on 16 tables. The average stack is just over 950,000 chips and James McManus returns from break with the chip lead currently sitting on approximately 3,400,000.

An interesting battle just broke out of a flop of    . Sean Davis fired out 55,000 before Cristian Dragomir raised it to 133,000. Davis then reraised to a total of 253,000, and Dragomir put in yet another raise, making it 483,000 to go. Davis then immediately moved all in, and surprisingly Dragomir quickly folded. Joel Fischbein raised to 31,000 before the flop and Matt Matros called from the big blind. After the       flop Matros checked and Fischbein bet 50,000. Matros check-raised to 160,000 and Joel made the call. The turn brought the   and when Matros bet 250,000 Fischbein moved all in for his last 506,000. Matros made the call and his     led Fischbein's    . Joel had outs with his overcard and open-ended straight draw but the   on the river was of no help and he was knocked out of the Main Event. Matros is now up to 1.48 million.

Jeremiah Smith has been eliminated from the Main Event. After Geert Jans opened the pot for 40,000, Smith moved his whole stack of 168,000 in from the small blind. Jans made the call with     and found out he was up against Smith's    . Jans outflopped Smith,      , to make two pair. Smith still had his set draw and a gutshot straight draw, but the   turn took away the straight draw. It hit on the river anyway when the river came  . Smith's Broadway straight wasn't as good as the queens full of aces held by Jans. Jans is now over 1.5 million in chips.
