Hands #45-49: Cada Doubles to the Chip Lead as Busquet Plummets

The five players' stacks are now so close that every hand seems to see the momentum shift, and there is a feeling inside the Rio that this could be a pivotal period of poker.

Hand #45: Joao Vieira raised to 350,000 from the hijack and the others folded.

Hand #46: Jamie O'Connor raised to 320,000 from the button Vieira called from the big blind. The flop was dealt     and Vieira checked. O´Connor continued with a bet of 250,000. Vieira got out of the way.

Hand #47: Pierre Calamusa raised from the button as he pushed 375,000 forward. Small blind Vieira three-bet all in for effectively 3,840,000 and both big blind Joe Cada and Calamusa folded their hand.

Hand #48: O'Connor raised to 320,000 and Olivier Busquet called from the big blind. The flop fell     and Busquet check-called a bet of 250,000 from O'Connor.

The   was dealt on the turn and both players checked. The   was dealt on the river. Busquet led out with a bet of 375,000 and O'Connor took his time to end up folding.

Hands #40-44: Cada Finds a Double-Up

Hand #40: Joe Cada shoved from the cutoff for 1,710,000 and action folded to Pierre Calamusa in the big blind who made the call.

The turn was the   and the Brit checked again. Vieira checked behind this time and the   completed the board on the river. They checked again and O'Connor showed    to win the pot.

Hand #35: O'Connor limped from the small blind and Pierre Calamusa checked. The     flop was dealt and O'Connor check-called a bet of 200,000. The   was dealt on the turn. Both players checked this time and the   landed on the river.

O'Connor led out with a bet of 400,000 on the river and Calamusa raised to 900,000 and O'Connor quickly folded.

Hand #36: O'Connor limped on the button and Calamusa raised to 650,000. Vieira folded in the big blind and O'Connor got out of the way.

Hand #37: O'Connor raised to 250,000 from the cutoff and Joe Cada called in the big blind. The flop fell     and both checked. The turn was the   and they both checked again to see the   on the river. Cada bet 250,000 on the river and O'Connor raised to 800,000. Cada got out of the way.

Hand #38: Olivier Busquet received a walk in the big blind.

Hand #39: Vieira raised to 250,000 from the cutoff and big blind O'Connor called. The     flop was dealt. Both checked on the flop and the turn was the   which made O'Connor bet 400,000. Vieira called to see the   on the river.

O'Connor now fired a bet of 875,000 on the river and Vieira was clearly in a marginal spot. The chip leader eventually called and was shown   , which was the winning hand as Vieira mucked. O'Connor is closing in on Viera's lead here, with the Portuguese player having had double the British player's stack a short time ago.

Hands #29-33: Vieira Keeps the Pressure On

Hand #29: Joao Vieira raised to 250,000 from the cutoff and that was enough to get the rest to fold.

Hand #30: Vieira raised to 255,000 from under the gun and picked up the blinds and ante again.

Hand #31: Olivier Busquet raised to 250,000 from the cutoff and Jamie O'Connor called in the button. Pierre Calamusa folded his small blind and Vieira defended his big blind. The flop came    , Vieira checked, Busquet continued with a bet of 200,000 and the rest folded.

Hand #32: Busquet raised to 250,000 from under the gun and Joe Cada defended his big blind. The flop came    , Cada check-raised the 150,000 bet of Busquet to 500,000. Busquet contemplated his options for a bit, grimaced and then let his hand go.

The turn was the   and O'Connor checked again. Vieira checked behind for the second time and the   was dealt on the river. O'Connor put in a bet of 400,000 on the river and Vieira took his time to think his decision through. The Portuguese player ended up folding after multiple minutes had passed.

Hand #15: O'Connor limped from the small blind and Pierre Calamusa checked from the big blind. The flop fell     and O'Connor check-called a bet of 125,000 from Calamusa. They both checked on the   turn and the   river came on the board.

O'Connor checked again and Calamusa bet 375,000. That got the job done when Calamusa folded.

Hands #3-7: Double Up For Calamusa

Hand #3: Joe Cada raised to 225,000 from the button and Olivier Busquet called from the big blind (there was no small blind this hand). The flop was dealt    . Busquet checked on the flop and Cada continued with a bet of 150,000. The action was on Busquet again and he raised to 450,000. Cada got out of the way and Busquet picked up the pot.

Hand #4: Cada, once again having the button because of the dead small blind, raised to 225,000 and Busquet called. Jamie O'Connor folded in the big blind. The flop was     and both players checked. The turn was the   and Busquet bet 450,000. Cada folded and Busquet won yet another pot from the 2009 WSOP Main Event Champion.

Hand #5: Cada raised to 225,000 for the third hand in a row and he did so from the cutoff. O'Connor three-bet to 675,000 from the small blind and big blind Pierre Calamusa four-bet all in for his last 2,600,000. Cada got out of the way and O'Connor called.

Day 4 of Event #70: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed is set to be full of tension and drama as the final six return to the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino to battle under the lights of CBS Live Stream with a top prize worth $758,011 and a coveted gold bracelet up for grabs on this special Independence Day.

Portugal's Joao Vieira (7,635,000) leads the way for the second day in a row but has tough competition including, the UK's Jamie O'Connor (5,190,000), who has already secured his best live cash by making the official final table, and USA's Olivier Busquet (4,050,000), who can add to his already phenomenal $8.4m live earnings.

2009 WSOP Main Event champion Joe Cada (3,105,000) can claim his fifth gold bracelet and once again put his name among a very select few, while Day 1 chip leader Barry Hutter (1,265,000) has the chance to win his second bracelet four years after his first. Completing the line-up is Frenchman Pierre Calamusa (2,700,000), who has been among the chip leaders since the early action back in Day 1.
