Calamusa Takes Wong Out

2006 Main Event Champion Jamie Gold is in the field and seated on the same table as Pierre Calamusa who is sporting a big stack already. Calamusa was kind enough to recount what had happened between him and Brandon Wong.

"I had    and I raised to 400, he three-bet to 1,300 and I called. The flop came     (rainbow). I check-call the 1,500 bet. The turn was a  , I check-call his 3,500 bet. The river was another  , I check-shove on his 10,000 bet. He had   ."

Gold said to Calamusa: "So that's how you win?"

Woods Hits a King on the River to Crack Zuidema's Aces

Robert Woods and Brandon Zuidema just got involved in a pre-flop raising war. The end result was Zuidema moving all-in and Woods calling for 42,125.

Woods turned over    and Zuidema was holding   . A small crowd had developed around the table and watched as the dealer spread the     flop. The turn   was no help to Woods but the   hit the river and the table erupted.

Woods spiked his two outer to improve to a full house and cracked Zuidema's aces to double up.

"Cuz" Sets Up Stevens to Double Up

Steven "Cuz" Buckner raised from early position and a player in middle position called. Scott Stevens re-raised to 2,700 from the big blind and both players called.

They saw a flop of     and Stevens led out with a bet of 5,000. Buckner raised to 12,000 and with the action back on Stevens he made it 30,000. Buckner moved all-in and Stevens called for about 45,000 total.

Stevens turned over    but Buckner was holding    for top set. The turn   and river   sealed the deal for Buckner who moved over the century chip mark and Stevens was eliminated.

Dentale Mucks on the River

Michael Dentale just lost a roughly 12,000 pot on the river just now. Both he and one other player checked the river on a       and Dentale couldn't beat his opponent. Despite this, Dentale is already off to a decent start, adding to his starting stack.

Jachtmann Among Big Stacks in Brasilia Room

Jan-Peter Jachtmann has nearly doubled his stack in the first level of the day in the Brasilia room and some other notables that built their stack include Brian Altman, Doug Polk and Shaun Deeb.

Sakura Sugawara had called Shaun Deeb's raise and Brian Altman came along from the big blind to see a flop of    . Action checked to Sugawara, who bet 1,100, and just Altman called. Both checked the   turn and Altman's bet of 1,150 on the   river was called by Sugawara. Altman rolled over    and that won the pot.

De Silva Bets Big

The board read      and there was 3,200 in the middle already. Stephen Schneider was sitting in the cutoff and bet 5,000 after Upeshka De Silva had checked his small blind. De Silva then check-raised to 17,000. Schneider considered it for a while but then opted to fold.

Gryko Makes Them Fold

Anthony Ferrara raised from late position to 400 and Gregor Prizmic Martini called from the small blind and Richard Gryko from the big blind.

The flop came down     and both blinds checked to Ferrara who continued with a bet of 650. Prizmic Martini and Gryko both called again and the   turn came down.

Prizmic Martini checked to Gryko and this time he chose to lead out with a bet of 3,200. Ferrara folded and Prizmic Martini also threw his hand into the muck.

Lucas Cullen raised to 350 from middle position and David Swift called from the button. Kyle Julius called from the big blind and they went three handed to the     flop.

Shulman Takes a Small Pot

Many notables can be found over in the Pavilion room and among those are also Allyn Shulman and Gaurav Raina, who share a table with 2017 Seniors Event finalist Gina Bacon. Sitbon Loses Some Chips

Marie Harrell opened to 400 and it was called by the player from one seat over, as well as Julien Sitbon in the cutoff. Scott McCall raised it to 1,500 from the button and after Harrell folded the two others players made the call.

The flop brought     and all the players checked. The turn fell a  and Sitbon bet 2,225 after the first player checked. Only McCall made the call and the river   brought no betting action.

Roberly Felicio was a name that didn't ring too many bells a couple of weeks ago, but when his name is announced at this time of year people will know what he did.

Felicio managed to win one of the biggest tournaments on the schedule at the 2018 World Series of Poker. Not in buy-in, but in sheer field size. Felicio came out on top in a field of 13,070 entries and is now going to try to win the Main Event.

After a raise-and-take-it from early position he already won a pot.

Hall Finds a Double

The board read      , Jeffrey Bryan bet and Tom Hall moved all in. Bryan called and the players then turned over their hands. Bryan showed    for nines over sevens and Hall showed    for aces over sevens, securing a double up.

Justin Liberto opened to 350 and it was called by Johan Schumacher on the button, Michael Comisso in the small blind and the big blind player.

The flop came     and Liberto continued for 500 after the blinds players checked. Schumacher and Comisso made the call and the big blind let it go. The turn brought a   and the same action happened, this time for 2,000.

On the river  , the three players checked and both Liberto and Schumacher mucked their hands after Comisso tabled    for two pair.

Williams Gets the Fold and Shows The Goods

The board was showing     , Scott Cole checked from the small blind and Randal Gibson checked from big blind to Robert Williams in early position who bet 7,000 into a pot around 10,500.

Both of his opponents called and the   hit the felt on the river. The action was checked to Williams who bet 17,000 and both of his opponents thought for a moment before folding.

Williams turned over    for eights over sevens, "I folded ace-king for you!" said Cole as he shook his head and Williams smiled as he scooped in the hand.

Matt Giannetti raised to 350 and Kyle Bowker called from the cutoff. Amelio Amato re-raised to 1,175 from the small blind and Reza Doomun called from the big blind. Giannetti and Bowker called and they went four handed to the     flop.

Amato led out with a bet of 5,000 and Giannetti called. They went heads-up to the   turn and both players checked. The river was the   and Amato fired out a bet of 6,000. Giannetti thought it over for about 30-seconds and mucked his hand and Amato took the pot without showdown.
