Safety First

All pots are small, and flops are a rare thing in the fifth level so far. But when Fernando Macia limped from early position, inviting small blind Nathan Gamble and big blind Adam Hendrix to the flop, it looked there might be some action.

That was a wrong assumption, as the       board was checked through. What made the hand more interesting was the showdown, as Hendrix held      for flopped top two while Macia had      for a flopped nut flush.

Still, no bets were made, and the patient grind carries on.

Adam Hendrix Scoops

Nathan Gamble limped, and Adam Hendrix checked his option in the big blind.

The flop came    , and Gamble bet 40,000. Hendrix called. Both players checked the   on the turn, and the   came on the river. Gamble checked, and Hendrix bet 90,000.

Gamble called and Hendrix showed      for a set of tens. Gamble mucked, obviously having not made a low.

Break

The eight remaining players are going on their second break of the day.

Sunday, June 25, 2017 6:21 PM Local Time
Quiet Eight

All eight players are playing patiently, apparently trying to avoid big clashes. The only exception was Nathan Gamble's barreling on the turn and river in a heads-up pot against Adam Hendrix, who paid 75,000 on the turn but folded to Gamble's 200,000-chip river bet.

Henson Has Aces Again

Ray Henson had already found aces in his hand during play at the final table, and he peeked at the bullets again just a few moments ago.

Henson was in middle position, and he raised to 75,000. Miguel Use scanned Henson's stack, signaling with his hand that he'd like to have a better view of Henson's remaining chips. Henson obliged, and Use decided to see the flop, calling.

The     flop saw Use announce, "Pot," covering Henson's leftovers. Henson snap-called.

Ray Henson:
Miguel Use:

Henson had flopped the nuts, but the race was still a sweat with Use drawing for spades. The rest of the board bricked, however, and Henson doubled his 189,000.

Riesenberg Shoves into Aces, Ends Up Quartered

Jason Riesenberg

Action on a ten-handed final table is usually slow when it comes to pot-limit Omaha, and this table hasn't been any different.

Nonetheless, Jason Riesenberg knew he was soon going to make his move, and he picked his spot when Ray Henson opened from the second position.

Riesenberg had a four-to-a-wheel hand, holding     . Unfortunately for him, Henson had an even stronger weapon, showing      for bullets with two additional low cards.

The board ran out      , leaving Henson's aces as the high-hand winner. Both players used their ace-deuce for the best possible low, and Riesenberg had to give up half of his chips, being quartered.

Riesenberg is playing a micro stack, and he'll soon be inevitably all in again.

Kevin Saul Eliminated in 11th Place ($12,034)

Kevin Saul

Kevin Saul has been grinding a downhill course since the start of this level, and his velocity even increased. Saul wasn't able to change the direction and fell all the way down.

First, he suffered a big blow in a pot that started with Saul raising to 45,000 from the button. Millard Hale called from the big blind and the action on the flop looked like a game of tennis. The ball was moving left to right within seconds.

Hale checked on the     and what followed was a super-fast "pot-all-in-call" sequence.

Hale:
Saul:

Hale hit the flop right on the money, having top two pairs in addition to a flush draw. Saul had only a gutshot straight draw. While he wasn't likely to win the high half of the pot, he needed one more low card to secure a chop.

The   turn sealed the high for Hale and the   river missed Saul's low outs.

Saul was down to his last 168,000 and he lost his remaining chips in the following minutes. Michael Gross drew a close to Saul's performance with     . Saul's cards and the board were already mucked by the time we arrived.

Both players had already had bets of 60,000 and 80,000 in front of them when Saul checked to Hendrix, who fired another 165,000. Saul gave it some thought and eventually made the call.

Hendrix knew he was ahead, quickly turning up his      for a full hosue. Saul mucked, losing a large chunk of his chips early into today's third level.
