No-Limit Five Card Draw High

After an uneventful seven card stud hi-lo regular round, Jeff Madsen chooses no-limit five card draw.

Action folds to Rep Porter who opens to 22,000 from the button. Jussi Nevanlinna calls from the big blind and the two are heads up to the draw. Nevanlinna takes three cards while Porter opts for just one. Nevanlinna checks, Porter continues for 27,000, and Nevanlinna lets it go.

Paul Volpe brings it in with the   and David Benyamine completes his   from the next seat over. It folds back to Volpe who goes into the tank for well over a minute before calling. The two get it in all in for Volpe's tournament life of 38,000 on fourth street and the hands are turned over.

By seventh, Benyamine makes two pair of fours and treys with a jack-five low. Volpe squeezes out the  , making a jack-seven low which is no good. Benyamine scoops and Volpe becomes the 8th place finisher.

With Volpe's elimination, the final seven players have been reached. Tournament staff has stopped the clock as the field re-draws to the unofficial final table of seven on the ESPN Main Stage.

Jake Abdalla raises his button and David Chiu calls from the small blind. Both players take two new cards at the first draw and Chiu check-calls a bet. On the second draw, Chiu once again takes two while Abdalla opts for just one. Chiu checks, Abdalla bets, and the two are off to the final draw.

At the last draw, Chiu takes one while Abdalla stands pat. Chiu checks, Adballa bets, and Chiu lets his hand go.

Do fans       for a six low and a five-badugi. This is good for the scoop and Do takes down a massive pot, bringing Dehkharghani down to just 37,000.

The   puts a pair on the board on the river and Madsen cuts out 55,000. Nevanlinna announces a raise of the pot, or 256,000 total. Madsen thinks for about a minute before ditching his cards.

Paul Volpe two-bets from the button before David Benyamine three-bets the small blind. Ray Dehkharghani calls from the big blind but Volpe four-bets. Benaymine calls this time and Dehkharghani comes in with a surprise five-bet. This allows Volpe to call all in for 52,500, leaving 15,000 in the side pot once Benyamine add the extra.

Volpe stands-pat and the other two draw two apiece. Both players check and draw two again. Benyamine bets and is called by Dehkharghani before Benyamine draws one and Dehkharghani stands-pat. Benyamine no check-calls a final bet.

Volpe:       for an eighty-seven low and half the pot.

Just 12 players remain in the hunt for the last Championship event (excluding the Main Event) of the 2015 WSOP. It took a long, extended Day 2 to whittle the field down to the money and all returning players today are guaranteed $21,908. The stress of the bubble has passed and all will now have their eye firmly placed on the $319,792 and the god bracelet awarded to the winner.

Rep Porter made a great comeback to lead heading into today with 558,000. If any lesson was learned from yesterday though, it's that dealer's choice can be very swingy and anything can happen today. For example: Porter went from a short stack to lead yesterday, whereas Aleksandr Denisov went from big chip leader to stone bubble.
