Christian Pham, Daniel Ospina, and Matthew Smith

Welcome back to our ongoing coverage of the 2015 World Series of Poker. Today marks the epic conclusion of Event #23: $1,500 No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball. Just three players will return to the felt for Day 3 in hopes to win the bracelet and $81,314. Christian Pham leads Daniel Ospina and Matthew Smith heading into the final day.

Yesterday's play saw Pham return for Day 2 with a massive chip lead over the returning field. Pham hit a rocky patch in the middle of the day, but was ultimately able to rebound and thrive as the final levels wore on. A total of 40 players returned for Day 2 play and only 28 of those players made the money. Some notable faces to receive a payday from this event were Ray Henson (26th), Jon Turner (25th), Mohsin Charania (22nd), Dan Smith (20th), Frank Kassela (14th), Eric Wasserson (13th), Jorryt van Hoof (10th), and Robert Mizrachi (9th). David Matthews became the official final table bubble boy when he was sent packing in eighth place.

Both Mike Leah and Aleksandr Denisov were eliminated almost immediately as the official final table play went underway. The two fell at the hands of a double elimination from Pham, allowing him to skyrocket toward the top of the counts. Immediately following that massive confrontation, 1996 WSOP Main Event champion Huck Seed was eliminated by Matthew Smith in fifth place. Andrey Zhigalov fell in fourth to Ospina, leaving the final three players fairly even in chips.

During the last 40 minutes of the night, Pham and Ospina were able to distance themselves from Smith, leaving him as the short stack heading into the final day of play.

Cards are back in the air at 2 p.m. local time where the trio will engage in battle for one last time. Be sure to stick around for all of the latest updates as this event reaches its exciting conclusion.
