Alabama's All-Time Earnings Leader Shannon Shorr Looking For Some Diaper Money

Shannon Shorr

One of the most consistent crushers of the last fifteen years has been Shannon "Aulophobia" Shorr, who tops the Alabama all-time earnings list on Hendon Mob, with nearly $8.6 million in recording earnings. Shorr, who recently announced that he and his wife Joy are expecting their first child, is in action today and will be looking for more success on the virtual felt after some early success on the live felt this year.

Shorr, who had six cashes in last year's WSOP.com Online Bracelet series, but has yet to win a WSOP Gold Bracelet, found his first victory of the year in Event #28: $5,000 No Limit Hold'em Deep Stack, and for besting a 287-entrant field, Shorr added a healthy $296,535 to his bankroll. Shorr has also found a quartet of cashes in PokerGO branded events, including a fourth-place performance at the $10,000 NLH High Roller at The Venetian, good for $77,000.

With another full summer of bracelet events on the docket, will this be the year that Shorr breaks through for a WSOP Gold Bracelet to add another accolade to an already illustrious career? We'll be watching his status all summer long as "Aulophobia" shoots for the stars.

WSOP Legend: Doyle Brunson's Final Bracelet, 15 Years Later

WSOP Legend Doyle Brunson

At the beginning of the 2005 WSOP, Doyle Brunson remained the co-king of the all-time bracelet count, tied along with Johnny Chan at nine. However, as the series drew toward its close in late June, that was no longer the case — Chan had overtaken him by winning No. 10 to stand atop the mountain alone.

Brunson was already phasing out his tournament play, having cashed precisely zero times that summer and just three times in the previous two combined, although one had resulted in a bracelet victory.

When it came time for Event #31: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed, Brunson dusted off his tournament chops and made a run.

For the a more thorough look on Brunson's historic 10th bracelet win, click the link below.

Melissa "luckmgmt" Bryne Looking to Bring the "GrindHaus" Some WSOP Gold

Melissa Bryne

Texan poker pro Melissa "luckmgmt" Bryne has spent the majority of quarantine firing up her Twitch stream and grinding the online streets, and Bryne, who now calls Las Vegas home, is looking for some WSOP.com Online Bracelet Series success.

Bryne says that in general, "I primarily play online but definitely mix in some live cash and tournaments when I need a break from the computer," according to her Twitch bio, but she's shown her chops in live tournaments, as well. In one of the last WSOP Circuit events before the Covid-19 pandemic, Bryne chalked up four cashes at the WSOPC Choctaw series, including a deep run in the $1,700 Main Event, ultimately finishing in twenty-ninth place for $7,421. Bryne's biggest score came in 2017, when she defeated a field of 327 entrants in a $500 No Limit Hold'em event at the Wynn to earn $36,708.

Bryne is a part of the "GrindHaus", a group of poker players living together in Las Vegas that includes Bryne's boyfriend, Jerod "whiskeydeck" Smith and Brian "TGBpoker" Frenzel among others. The group all participate in Twitch streams, podcasts, and other general hijinks on their active and entertaining social media pages.

Bryne, who is in today's field, will be looking to catch her first WSOP Gold Bracelet on stream in front of her loyal fanbase, and we'll be keeping tabs on her throughout today's play.
