WSOP.com Event #20: No Limit Hold'em High Roller

The World Series of Poker $50,000 Poker Players Championship (PPC), which was created in 2006, is considered the tournament where the best of the best take on one another and duke it out in a variety of poker games, a reflection of all-around poker skill. Imagine playing the likes of Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, and Daniel Negreanu five days in a row in a short-handed mixed format.

Needless to say, the hefty price tag coupled with a small, elite field created a legacy for the PPC where champions are considered among the greatest overall poker players. A quick glance at its 14-year history shows nothing but greatness among champions, from John Hennigan to Mike Gorodinsky, and with the late David "Chip" Reese as perhaps the event's most fitting inaugural winner back in 2006.

Winning once is the poker professional's dream. Winning two? You're in a league of your own. But winning the toughest event with poker's best three times? Only one man achieved that improbable feat on this day back in 2018, after winning his first two titles in 2010 and 2012: Michael Mizrachi.

Action quickly folded to Matt "RubberFist" Stout who raised all in for 91,638 on the button and Philip "tszis" Shing called off his 52364 stack from the small blind.

Bicknell needed some help for a big blind special but the       runout ended her tournament.

Katie "katelin" Lindsay raised to 4,000 under the gun it folded all the way to the big blind Tony "Panoramic" Dunst who called.

The flop came the    , Dunst led for 3,500 and was called.

The river was the  . Dunst checked and Lindsay jammed all in and was snap called.

Lindsay had the    for the flopped set, Dunst also had flopped a set but it was second best as he showed the    and was eliminated, while Lindsay took the overall chip lead of the tournament.

One of the most consistent crushers of the last fifteen years has been Shannon "Aulophobia" Shorr, who tops the Alabama all-time earnings list on Hendon Mob, with nearly $8.6 million in recording earnings. Shorr, who recently announced that he and his wife Joy are expecting their first child, is in action today and will be looking for more success on the virtual felt after some early success on the live felt this year.

Shorr, who had six cashes in last year's WSOP.com Online Bracelet series, but has yet to win a WSOP Gold Bracelet, found his first victory of the year in Event #28: $5,000 No Limit Hold'em Deep Stack, and for besting a 287-entrant field, Shorr added a healthy $296,535 to his bankroll. Shorr has also found a quartet of cashes in PokerGO branded events, including a fourth-place performance at the $10,000 NLH High Roller at The Venetian, good for $77,000.

With another full summer of bracelet events on the docket, will this be the year that Shorr breaks through for a WSOP Gold Bracelet to add another accolade to an already illustrious career? We'll be watching his status all summer long as "Aulophobia" shoots for the stars.

Hellmuth was behind holding two overs and nothing changed after the     flop appeared.

The   turn made things interesting as it gave both players straight draws and the river came paint but it was the   which ended Hellmuth's tournament.
