Action has wrapped up for both starting flights at the World Series of Poker Circuit presented by Southern Comfort 100 Proof Horseshoe Southern Indiana Main Event. The two starting flights combined for 330 players, 201 and 129 respectively, and 176 players remain. Greg Brletich leads the field with 116,300.
Just behind Brletich are Sean Winter (115,100), "Italian" Mike Iacovone (112,000), Stephen Dodd (96,500) and Chad Eveslage (95,100). Rounding out the leaders are William Newman, James Barger, Steven Gurney-Goldman, Sterling Savill, Robert Gee and Joe Daddario.
Also advancing to Day 2 are Kenny Nguyen, "Captain" Tom Franklin, Chris Karambinis, Aaron Massey, Kathy Liebert, Eric Baldwin, Rex Clinkscales, Mike Holm, Doug Carli, Robert Scott, Luther Louis, Aaron Steury and Corey Burbick.
Kat Bowen, Abraham Araya, Miguel Borrero and Nancy Birnbaum are among the notables that were unable to advance to Day 2.
Clinkscales failed to get anything going in Day 1a and busted about halfway through. But Day 1b was a different story. He surged to the top of the counts late in the day when he made a set holding pocket nines and his opponent paired an ace.
Engel has already made a final table this stop, in Event #6, finishing runner-up. He secured chips to advance to Day 2 when he induced his opponent to move all in on the river. His opponent held on a board but Engel held pocket sixes for a full house.
Day 2 will have cards in the air promptly at 1 p.m. EST and they're scheduled to play 12 levels. Follow all the WSOPC action live on Pokernews.com.

We caught the aftermath of the hand and aren't exactly sure of how the action played out. The short story is that Rex Clinkscales doubled up and looks to be the chip leader of Day 1b at the moment.
The board was and Clinkscales held . His opponent held and was visibly frustrated by the turn of events.

We came upon a flop of that already had 10,000 in the pot. An unknown player checked, Robert Gee bet 5,100 and Tyler Patton called on the button. The first player folded and the turn came .
Both players checked to the river and Gee checked. Patton took a moment and then bet out 6,000 and Gee folded.

While making our rounds around the room for the better part of 11 hours we noticed something was just a bit off. We finally figured out what was bothering us and it's the inordinate amount of left-handed dealers on staff here.
This stop, unlike most on the Circuit, is ran by the in-house staff. We're used to seeing the same faces on the crew from stop to stop but here it's all locals.
Studies have shown that about 10-15% of the population is left-handed but their is long held stigma in the poker world concerning left-handed dealers.
For the most part, viewers will very rarely see a televised poker event that has left-handed dealers on a feature table. In years past the WSOP never allowed left-handed dealers on any TV table.
We mentioned this to a floor supervisor and she simply responded, "It's a Kentucky/Indiana thing."

Kurt Jewell has also been eliminated from the tournament. He got the last of his short stack in preflop holding pocket aces. He was called by a player holding pocket eights and his opponent caught an eight on the flop.
He tapped the table, said "Good game," and immediately left the poker room. There's a good chance he headed straight for Legends.

Cord Garcia just stopped by our table to let us know he was eliminated. His final hand held and ran into pocket tens. He never caught up and bricked for the whole series.
He's still in high spirits though after a successful stop in Bossier City.

The hand began with three players limping into the pot and Abraham Araya raised to 900 from the small blind. Damir Dabezic called from under the gun and the rest folded.
The flop came , Araya led out for 1,325 and Dabezic called. The turn came and both players checked. The river came , Araya bet 2,300 and Dabezic moved all in for around 5,400 more.
Araya called and winced when Dabezic tabled for trip sixes.
