Las Vegas local Giuseppe Pantaleo is $192,831 richer after winning Event #16: $1,700 No Limit Holdem Main Event at the 2024 World Series of Poker Circuit hosted by the Horseshoe Las Vegas. Pantaleo's win came over a huge 669 player field and earned him his third WSOP Circuit ring.

Pantaleo would come out the victor after a heads up battle with Peter Hengsakul that only lasted a few hands. Pantaleo went into heads up play with about two thirds of the chips and ran that straight to victory. This very series, Pantaleo final tabled both the $2,200 High Roller where he finished fourth and the $3,300 High Roller where he finished 8th. This victory puts a bow on an excellent circuit stop and gives some added momentum going into the WSOP this summer. Although this isn't Pantaleo's largest score, it is the first large score for Pantaleo in over five years. He said he was almost ready to quit tournaments all together but that this series has helped turn that thinking around a bit.

Final Table Results:

Place First Last Prize
1 Giussepe Pantelao $192,831
2 Peter Hengsakul $119,182
3 Jonah Labranche $87,689
4 Mario Colavita $65,271
5 Harvey Alegado $49,158
6 Baurzhan Akimov $37,466
7 Kevin Calenzo $28,900
8 Blaise Ingoglia $22,565
9 Nick Marchington $17,838

Pantaleo entered the final day as the chip leader and although he would lose and gain that chip lead throughout the day, he was seen at the top of the leaderboard consistently. The day started with 12 players returning for the final day of the main event and it didn't disappoint. They battled for the better part of nine hours before Pantaleo held up the ring. The final table was fast and loud with a consistent knockout about once every 45 minutes. Pantaleo rode the swings and although he would get short around the four-handed mark, he was able to secure some key double ups at opportune times to go into heads up play with a significant chip advantage and take down the whole thing!

Winners Reaction:
Pantaleo started by saying that this win came on the back of an already successful circuit stop. "Yea, its been a crazy circuit. I got fourth in the $2k, I got eighth in the $3k, and now I win this one"

He also spoke to the struggles of being a live MTT pro and how this win help break the drought, "Yea this feels very good because the last five years have been pretty bad in tournaments for me. I'm just very happy to get the weight off my shoulders and have some success. Honestly, I didn't even want to play tournaments anymore. I've been playing more cash and just to be slow and steady to make some money because the tournament grind, you never know when you're gonna win them, so it does feel good to put in the work and get rewarded."

When asked if there was any way he was going to celebrate he simply said "I'm very happy inside. I'm going home to my wife and my daughter and we are gonna be happy together."

Congratulations to Giuseppe Pantaleo on winning the 2024 WSOP Circuit Main Event!

Pretty quickly into heads up play, a few pots were pushed to Giuseppe Pantaleo which left Peter Hengsakul Short when the final hand happened.

After a bet and a raise, all the chips went in the middle and the cards hit their backs with Hengsakul all in and at risk.

Peter Hengsakul:
Giuseppe Pantaleo:

The     flop left Hengsakul drawing slim. He would pick up an open ender on the   turn but he would brick on the   river. Hensukal hits the rail after an incredibly impressive run and his second heads up match this series. Not an easy feat to achieve.

Giuseppe Pantaleo is your 2024 World Series of Poker Las Vegas Circuit Main Event Champion!

The action started with Jonah Labranche who moved raise to 1,000,000 with about 300,000 back. It was then on Giuseppe Pantaleo who took a moment before moving all in. Labranche called and the cards hit their backs.

The full board ran out       and with the pair of jacks, Pantaleo sent Labranche to the rail in 3rd place after an impressive showing by the young pro from Arizona.

Peter Hengsakul lost a few pots to Jonah Labranche that evened out the stacks to within a couple million each.

Giuseppe Pantaleo then took a stop and go line against Labranche. The full board was       and Pantaleo had bet flop, checked turn, and overbet river. He was able to get paid on a bet of over 2,000,000 before showing down aces for the win.

 Giuseppe Pantaleo: 10,000,000
Peter Hengsakul: 6,400,000
Jonah Labranche: 3,400,000

After break, enough chips changed hands that Jonah Labranche moved back into second place. Giuseppe Pantaleo lost a few pots and had moved back into third prior to the following hand.

After a raise, and three-bet, all the chips went into the middle and it was the most classic of flips.

Giuseppe Pantaleo:
Jonah Labranche:

The     flop kept Labranche in the lead but Pantelao would drill the turn when the dealer peeled off the  . The   river was a brick and Pantaleo flipped the stacks right back.

Giuseppe Pantaleo: 7,200,000
Jonah Labranche: 2,800,000

The three remining players have forgone their dinner break to take just 15-minutes and get right back into play. Don't go far!

Peter Hengsakul defended his big blind against the button open of Giuseppe Pantaleo. The     flop landed and without too much time passing, all of the chips went in to put Pantaleo at risk. When the cards hit their backs they saw why...

Giuseppe Pantaleo:
Peter Hengsakul:

Hengsukal was feeling lucky with a pair and flush draw but Pantaleo was in the lead with a solid top pair. The   turn and   river improved Hengsakul but it was not enough to get the win.

Pantaleo scooped and now sits in second while Jonah Labranche moves into third.

Giuseppe Pantaleo: 6,700,000
Peter Hengsakul: 7,400,000
Jonah Labranche: 4,400,000

Mario Colavita moved all in for his last 1,700,000 from the cutoff and was called by Peter Hengsakul in the big blind. The cards hit their backs with Colavita all in and at risk.

The full board ran out       and with a pair of queens, Hengsakul sent Colavita to the rail in 4th place after an amazing effort on Day 2 and 3.

Peter Hengsakul: 9,000,000

Tuesday, April 2, 2024 6:02 PM Local Time

The action folded to Harvey Alegado in the small blind who took a moment and then raised to 250,000 from the small blind. Jonah Labranche was in the big blind and took a moment before moving all in. Alegado snap called.

Harvey Alegado:
Jonah Labranche:

The     flop landed and Alegado was in his seat. That was before the dealer rolled the   off the deck on the turn. Alegado said his goodbyes and began to get up as the   hit the felt on the river. He was eliminated in 5th place after an impressive run.

Mario Colavita doubled twice through the chip leader, Peter Hengsukal. Once was when his ace-nine held against the queen-ten of Hengsukal. The other was just a few hands later when Colavita moved all in with pocket nines and was called by the king-queen of Hengsukal. He would flop a set on that runout to get his second double in just a few hands.

Its worth noting that Hengsukal has chipped up a ton on other hands, winning multiple pots without showdown. He still sits firmly in first.

Mario Colavita: 2,900,000
Peter Hengsukal: 5,600,000

After significant action Baurzhan Akimov found himself all in and at risk against Peter Hengsukal before the flop.

The cards hit their backs.

The full board ran out       and with top set, Hengsukal sent Akimov to the rail in 6th place.

Peter Hengsukal: 8,000,000

Harvey Alegado was the short stack at the table by a long shot. He needed to find a spot and it came in the form of a jam from middle position for his last four big blinds. He would get called by Giuseppe Pantaleo in the big blind and was in rough shape.

Harvey Alegado:
Giuseppe Pantaleo:

He may have had a dominated ten but at least he had a suit. That suit would come into play on the     board. The dealer would then burn and turn the   giving Alegado the flush but Pantaleo was still holding a higher heart. That heart would come on the river and Pantelo would give a swift fist pump before the table realized that the river was actually the   giving Alegado the straight flush and giving him the pure double!

Harvey Alegado: 1,000,000
Giuseppe Pantaleo: 1,600,000

When it rains it pours. Jonah Labranche was all in and at risk just a few hands ago but after a very lucky double he found himself in a blind versus blind battle against the chip leader Peter Hengsukal.

After significant action, Hengsukal and Labranche found themselves with all the chips in the middle on the turn looking at a       board.

Jonah Labranche:
Peter Hengsukal:

Hengsukal was in bad shape as his two pair shriveled-up against the nut straight of Labranche. He needed the board to pair but the   river did not bring the help he needed and Labranche would quickly take the chip lead after being all in just a few hands ago.

Jonah Labranche: 7,000,000
Peter Hengsukal: 3,700,000

Tuesday, April 2, 2024 4:21 PM Local Time

The action folded all the way to Kevin Calenzo who was just coming off of a brutal cooler a few hands before. He moved in for his last 800,000 and got called from the big blind by Mario Colavita. The cards hit their backs with Calenzo all in and at risk.

Kevin Calenzo:
Mario Colavita:

The full board ran out       and with just ace-high Colavita would win and Calenzo would hit the rail in 7th place.

Kevin Calenzo:Eliminated

Mario Colavita: 2,800,000

Tuesday, April 2, 2024 4:11 PM Local Time

The action folded to Jonah Labranche in late position who moved all in for his last 1,900,000. Kevin Calenzo then rejammed from the small blind and the big blind folded.

The cards hit their backs.

Jonah Labranche:
Kevin Calenzo:

Labranche was in rough shape but that would quickly change when the dealer peeled the     flop. Labranche flopped the stone cold nuts and unfortunately, the   turn and   river sealed the deal. Labranche got the pure double and Colenzo was left short.

Jonah Labranche:4,100,000
Kevin Calenzo: 1,200,000

Tuesday, April 2, 2024 4:03 PM Local Time

The action folded to Blaise Ingoglia in late position who raised to 200,000. It then folded all the way to Peter Hengsukal in the big blind who raised to 600,000. Back to Ingoglia who quickly moved all in for about 2,200,000 and Hengsukal snap called.

The cards hit their backs

Blaise Ingoglia:
Peter Hengsukal:

The full board ran out       and with a straight on the turn, Hengsukal would send Ingoglia to the rail in 8th place and take a commanding chip lead.
