Event #7: $400 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold 'em Champion Lisa Schuessler
Who says 6-Max is for online whiz kids? Lisa Schuessler of Durant, Oklahoma earned her second WSOP Circuit ring in the short-handed discipline in less than five months after taking down Event #7: $400 Six-Handed at Hard Rock Tulsa.
Schuessler defeated a field of 152 entries to earn $13,308 and that second piece of WSOP Circuit hardware. With her win at Choctaw last October, she had already earned her seat at the 2024 WSOP Tournament of Champions.
So, what is it about 6-Max that draws her to success?
“I just like 6-Max because you have more room and you get to play a wider range of hands.”
Schuessler outlasted a tough field that included 15-time Circuit ring winner Daniel Lowery, who made his latest deep run here, but again fell disappointingly short in 8th place.
David Soskin made his second final table this series after finishing second to Brandon Skala in Event #4, another $400 single-day Turbo event. This time he fell in third place, with Archie Ford taking the runner-up spot behind Schuessler.
The champion was humble in victory, though she did light-heartedly call her shot late in the tournament and then went ahead and hit it out of the park.
“I feel great. I didn’t think it was going to happen, but it did. But I did say earlier it was going to happen. I don’t know, I was just trying to do my best.”
