Day 1B of the Main Event gained 190 new entries and ended with 23 remaining players.

Michael Estes (pictured) bagged up the chip lead with a huge stack of 816,000. He amassed his heaps late in the night as he started to emerge as chip leader after the close of registration. Estes is no stranger to deep runs here in Grand Victoria as he won the Monster Stack event here last series in November.

Coincidentally, another ring winner from last Grand Victoria series finished just behind him in second place with 795,000. Shane Thorne, who won Event #2 in November for a smidge over a six-figure mark.

Another ring winner at this stop to find a bag was Imran Sajwani (260,000) who went back to back in Event #1 in November and earlier this series.

Some other notable players to advance to Day 2 included; Brett Reichard (375,000), Rob Wazwaz (232,000) and Aaron Massey (176,000).

The 23 players will go on to Day 2 on Sunday at Noon and join with the 21 from Day 1B as well as those who advance in the last opening flight of Day 1C which starts on Saturday at 11 a.m.

There are 30 players left on the final break of the night, meaning that the field is just one elimination away from reaching the money.


During the last few levels Rich Alsup zoomed up the counts. Michael Estes has taken the chip lead with a big stack of well over 500,000.

Registration for Day 1B of the Main Event is now over. The field attracted 190 total entries, of which about 54 remain.

In the last few levels, Mark Fink was able to collect a good sized pot with a full boat.

The field is up to 176 on dinner break with several new familiar faces taking aim at the growing Main Event prizepool. Play will resume at ~6:30.

There was a dramatic hand won by Jerry Mason in the last few levels that left him happy to just still be around and as of dinner break he still is!

As the winds pick up outside near the Windy City, the second break of the day sees the amount of entries up to 159. Angela Gambino (pictured) who won the High Roller event last time the circuit was in Grand Victoria is one of the players off to a good start as she has already more than doubled her stack.

Ryder Phillips was another player who has a good stack following a hand where he rivered a nut flush.

On the first break of the day, the tournament clock shows 133 entries.

With one flight down, there are two more to go, and the next one kicks off at 11 a.m. local time.

The first of three opening flights saw 134 entrants on Thursday. Two more starting flights take place today and Saturday, respectively, followed by Day 2 on Sunday and Day 3 Monday, both at noon. Day 1s are scheduled to play 17 40-minute levels or stop once 10% of the field remains, whichever comes first. Any survivors at that point will advance to Day 2.

Here’s a look at other key elements of the event:

  • $1,700 buy-in / 40,000 chips
  • 40-minute levels on Day 1, 60-minute levels on Days 2 and 3
  • Registration during opening flights is open until the start of Level 13 (approximately 8:45 p.m.)
  • Players are allowed 2 re-entries per opening flight
  • The final 15% of Day 1's will be in the money
  • Players receive a 15-minute break after levels 3,6,12,15,19,21,25 and 27
  • Players receive a 60-minute dinner break after Level 9 on Day 1A and 1B (approximately 5:30 p.m.)
  • Day 1A players must forfeit their chips before bagging if they wish to play Day 1B

The November 2023 Grand Victoria Casino Main Event was the last one played here and drew 652 entries. Stephen Song conquered the field to win his fourth ring and the $183,508 grand prize.
