Despite being down to his final big blind on the final table, Fan You mounted a comeback to win his first World Series of Poker Circuit ring and $76,100.

The tournament started on Thursday with over 1,500 entries, and You outlasted all of them, closing it out late on Sunday night.

"I'm really confident in my short-stack play," said You. "I know my ranges, and I think they were under-defending. I felt good about my chances."

Despite being left with a single big blind, he doubled and tripled up multiple times, quickly finding himself heads up for the title. His run good continued when the final hand was a flip, and his pocket nines held against the king-jack offsuit of Auguste Shastry.

"I want to thank my girlfriend Luqi and my parents for always supporting me," said You.

Congratulations to Fan You for winning his first Circuit ring, claiming his biggest score, and grabbing a spot at the WSOP Tournament of Champions.

Check out his winner's interview here.

The opening weekend here at Thunder Valley has the poker room booming. Over 1500 entries took part in "The Opener," resulting in a prize pool of over half a million dollars.

Of the four starting flights, it's Bryce Armstrong who leads the field after bagging 528,000 on Day 1d. Still, there is plenty of work left to do as 234 players advanced from their starting flights.

All players are now in the money, so action should be fast and furious right off the bat today. The plan is to play all the way to a winner tonight, so we'll see who can navigate their way to the impressive $76,100 first-place prize.

Action kicks off at 10 am for the restart. For full chip counts and seat assignments, check out the reports tab.
