Maurice Hawkins takes back the #1 spot on the All-Time list for most gold rings.
Last month in the Grand Victoria Casino Main Event in Chicago, Joshua Reichard tied the overall circuit ring count with his 14th career ring.
"To be honest, I really don't care too much about records but this one is kind of cool." said Reichard after winning that ring.
Maurice Hawkins saw that result and he was listening. He answered with his 15th ring by winning Event #16: $2,200 No-Limit Hold'em High Roller for $54,599 to end his Cherokee stop on a high note.
"Challenge accepted!" Hawkins said over and over after winning the ring.
Hawkins, never a player who is shy about sharing his thoughts, did not hold back and he had some words following the win that put him ahead in the overall count once again.
"Put some respect on my name! I am Maurice Hawkins, that's who I am. if you are going to call me out go ahead and say it. I am not a fan of the passive aggressive fake humble act, acting like you don't care about the numbers when you clearly do" he said as a message directed to Reichard about the battle that is now brewing between the two players for the most rings.
He also noted that he did not appreciate the reporting surrounding Reichard's win, where articles referenced Hawkins not winning a ring since 2020. He noted the COVID factor and pointed out that the gap was not as big as it may seem and did not care for the focus on his "drought".
"Once again, put some respect on my name!"
It will be interesting to see how this circuit ring battle continues as Hawkins has made it evident that he is not going anywhere and doesn't plan to relinquish his seat atop the heap any time soon.

On the final hand Maurice Hawkins had against of Toby Boas.
The board ran out to give Hawkins the straight to crack the kings and give him the ring.
"That's my life!" said Hawkins in celebration. "Challenge accepted!"
