2022 Turning Stone Ring Winner Gilberto Taveras is Among the Day 1C Chip Leaders
Following a huge turnout of 562 entries, the Day 1C field of the $1,700 Main Event combined with the 508 entries in Days 1A and 1B created a Turning Stone record prize pool of $1,621,050, surpassing the total from the 2022 edition of this series’ Main Event, which was $1,349,865.
The incredible day of poker was capped by a wild finish which saw multiple players battling for the end-of-night chip lead.
While multiple large stacks emerged, none could catch the mark of Day 1B chip leader Shaun Deeb who will take the overall chip lead into Sunday’s Day 2 with 897,000.
The leaders from Day 1C included 2022 Turning Stone Circuit ring winner Vaios Triantafyilou, who bagged the day’s biggest stack of 781,000. He wasn’t the only previous ring winner to bag big as Gilberto Taveras, who won a Pot-Limit Omaha ring in the same series bagged 717,000.
Corey Richardson bagged the second-biggest stack of the day with 749,000, while Sandy Lam bagged 644,000, and Brandon Lulov bagged 596,000 to round out the top five from Day 1C.

The final 85 players Saturday earned at least a min-cash of $2,543 and when the end of Level 17 was reached, 60 players advanced to bring a total of 112 survivors through to Sunday.
They’ll return at noon to play toward the final table, and then the final day of play Monday, when a champion will be crowned.

Big pots are happening throughout the room as players try to separate themselves from the cluster at the top of the leaderboard.
In one pot, Brandon Lulov raised to 16,000 under the gun and got called by Gilberto Taveras in a clash of two of the biggest stacks in the room.
The flop came and Taveras check-called a bet of 15,000.
On the turn, Taveras checked again and now faced a bet of 37,000 from Lulov. Taveras came back with a check-raise to 100,000 and Lulov folded.

With 40,000 in the middle three-ways to a flop of Johann Mueller checked in the small blind, Joseph Porto checked the big blind, and Joseph Drory bet 11,000.
Only Mueller called to see the on the turn. He now led out for 22,000, which got called by Drory.
The fell on the turn and Mueller now bet 60,000, roughly half his remaining stack.
Drory thought for a bit but then called. Mueller instantly tossed his cards to the muck, awarding the pot to Drory, while leaving himself with just 70,000 chips.

The flop came and Sinishtaj checked. Taveras bet 14,000 and got check-raised to 43,000 by Sinishtaj.
Taveras called and the rolled off on the turn. Sinishtaj moved all in for about 100,000 and Taveras snap-called on the right end of a cooler.

Following an early position raise, Mueller three-bet in middle position and was met with a four-bet all in for slightly more from the small blind for 27,000.
The original raiser then put out a small five-bet to 45,000, but that didn't shed Mueller. He six-bet all in holding about 200,000 chips, covering the original raiser's stack who opted to fold.
