You’ve heard the phrase “age is just a number”, right?

Well, the same can be said for tournament guarantees at the WSOP Circuit series at Turning Stone Resort Casino this week, as the listed numbers have been shattered all week long, with the Main Event’s $500,000 mark likely to fall Friday.

Day 1A on Thursday saw 199 entries contribute an opening $301,485 toward the prize pool with that number very likely to be exceeded on Day 1B. And then there’s Day 1C Saturday, which is expected to be the biggest of all the opening flights. A number north of the $1,349,865 from last spring’s Main Event here is surely a more likely target for tournament organizers, who already have to be thrilled by the incredible turnouts.

But that’s the success off the felt. As for success on the felt, no one had a better day in the Main Event on Thursday than Rochester’s Scott Hosbach, who bagged 743,000 chips. That’s the number that players on Friday will be targeting as they make their way into the Turning Stone Event Center at 11 a.m.

While they also won’t have defending champion Joseph Rice to worry about in further flights, as he bagged up 192,000 in defense of his title, the likes of Shaun Deeb, Roland Israelashvili, DJ MacKinnon, and more stars are expected back in the field Friday as they try again to advance to the next day of play.

Players Friday will follow the same script as the opening flight, with 17 levels of play scheduled, but play will be stopped if the field is thinned to its final ten percent before then.

Entrants will receive 30,000 chips to start their journey, with blinds of 100/200/200 to start play and registration and re-entry open until the start of level 13 (approximately 8:45 p.m. local time).

Fifteen-minute breaks are scheduled after every three levels, with a 60-minute dinner break after level 9 (approximately 5:30 p.m. local time)

As was the case on Day 1A, players will play into the money (top 15%), which earned 30 of Thursday’s 199 entries at least a min-cash of $2,576.

Survivors of the opening flights will then return Sunday at noon for Day 2, with Day 3 on Monday when the champion will be crowned.
