Danny Marx is the first Main Event champion of the 2022/2023 World Series of Poker Circuit season after he topped a massive field of 931 entries to walk away with the Choctaw Durant $1,700 Main Event title, a $246,829 top prize, and a seat into the 2023 Tournament of Champions.
Marx came into the final day at the bottom of the counts but picked his spots and went on a late final table heater to claim his first gold ring and taking down over a quarter-million dollars to go along with it was rewarding as well.

Marx was ahead with a made hand of eights and the river secured him the victory, denying Tran back-to-back Choctaw Main Event titles.

There was heads-up action between Nikola Mircetic from the button and Quan Tran from the small blind with a board showing.
Tran moved all in and Mircetic called off his 4,000,000 stack.
Mircetic paired his ace but was dominated and the river ended his tournament in third place for $114,015.

Following a limp from Quan Tran on the button, Brad Ruben moved all-in for his remaining 3,950,000. Danny Marx thought for some time before making the call. Tran thought for even longer, but ultimately decided to fold.
Ruben was ahead until he saw the king in the window on the flop.
The on the turn and the on the river could not save him either, eliminating him from the Main Event.

Action quickly folded to Nikola Mircetic who raised all in from the small blind and Dakotah O'Dell called off his short stack from the big blind.
O'Dell was behind holding one over but couldn't find a jack on the runout and he made his exit in fifth place for $65,591.

Marx was way ahead and improved after the flop gave him top set.
The turn left O'Dell drawing dead and the river secured Marx his massive double.

In the hijack six-handed, Brad Ruben raised 400,000 drawing a call from Nikola Mircetic on the button. Down to his last 2,875,000, Dakotah O'Dell moved all-in. Following a fold from Quan Tran, Ruben would move all-in himself, forcing Mircetic to fold.
Spiking a third ten on the river, O'Dell clapped his hands together and let out a shout, savoring his improbable double up.

The turn left Rice needing a three, but the completed the board on the river and ended his tournament in sixth place for $50,498.

Osman Ihlamur was all in preflop from the big blind for roughly ten big blinds and Quan Tran looked him up from the small blind.
The flop paired both players, but Tran pulled ahead after the turn gave him two-pair.
Ihlamur still held a good amount of outs but the river wasn't one of them and he made his exit in seventh place for $39,272.

Following a 400,000 raise from Brad Ruben preflop, Danny Marx would push his 2,400,000 remaining chips into the middle. After it folded back around to Ruben, he snap called showing Marx he was behind.
With the miracle ten on the turn, Marx would hit a much needed two pair to double up through Ruben.

Action folded to Steven McCartney who raised all in for 1,395,000 from the cutoff and Osman Ihlamur called off his 1,305,000 stack from the big blind.
McCartney was in rough shape and the flop was even worse as it gave Ihlamur quads leaving him drawing dead.
The dealer added a little salt to the wound, completing the board with the on the turn followed by the on the river, giving McCartney a king-high straight but it didn't matter as Ihlamur already had his double secured.
The hand left McCartney with just 90,000 and he was eliminated just a few hands later.

Mircetic would lead out for another 250,000 bet, which Tran would again call.

The flop saw Rice continue and Tran called to see the pair the board on the turn.
Rice fired out 465,000 and the double paired the board on the river. Rice tossed out a 210,000 feeler and Tran just called.
Tran quickly revealed for jacks full of kings and with was good as Rice mucked his hand facedown.

Thomas got his short stack in the middle and Mircetic snap called.
Thomas rolled over for two-pair but it was no good as Mircetic held for a full house and eliminated Thomas in ninth place for $24,492.

Jason Rice open-jammed under the gun for 800,000 only to have Aaron Thomas quickly jam over the top for 1,735,000 from the next seat over.
Action folded to Osman Ihlamur who decided to follow suit and five-bet over the top for roughly 3,000,000.
Rice didn't mind seeing that both his opponents were sharing cards and liked the flop.
The turn put Rice even further in the lead with a set of sixes, but he wasn't out of the water as Thomas picked-up the spade flush draw.
Luckily for Rice, the river was a brick with and secured his triple-up.
