Quan Tran attempts to become a back-to-back champion
The final day of the Main Event is upon us, and what started with a massive field of 931 has slowly worked it's way down to just 13.
Today, the first Main Event champion of the 2022-23 WSOP Circuit tour will be crowned here at Choctaw, and it might even be a repeat champion.
Coming into Day 3 having bagged 2,200,000 chips is Quan Tran, Choctaw's most recent Main Event Champion.
Today, Tran has the opportunity to do the unthinkable: earn himself back-to-back banners. While the feat has been done before here at Choctaw, it has yet to be done in consecutive Circuits.
While Tran is certainly in the mix, he will have to play past current chip leader and Gargantuan champion Dakotah O'Dell, who sits at 5,130,000.
O'Dell isn't the only formidable, familiar face returning to Day Three of the Main Event, with WSOP ring winners Bart Bogard, Steven "Cuz" Buckner, and Jason Rice also making it to Day Three.
Here are the current chip counts:
1 Dakotah O'Dell - 5,130,000
2. Bradley Ruben - 4,485,000
3. Osman Ihlamur - 2,755,000
4. Quan Tran - 2,200,000
5. Steven McCartney - 2,105,000
6. Bart Bogard - 2,090,000
7. Steven Buckner - 2,025,000
8. Nikola Mircetic - 2,000,000
9. Aaron Thomas - 1,850,000
10. Danny Marx - 930,000
11. Noah Nodine - 860,000
12. Jason Rice - 825,000
13. Colt Sanders - 715,000
Day 3 will resume with a local start time of noon. Play will pick up at level 26 where blinds will be 30,000/60,000/60,000.
Each level will be 60-minutes long and players will receive a 15-minute break after every two levels. By the end of the day, we will have a new (or repeat) Main Event Champion, who will not only receive a WSOP ring, but the top prize of $246,820.
