Ron Covert - The First Seniors Event Champion
Ronald Covert defeated a field of 467 competitors in the first Choctaw Durant Seniors Event. The $130 buy-in tournament generated a prizepool of $46,700 and paid out the top 71 spots.
Ron, hailing from Lawrence, Kansas, more than doubled his career WSOP winnings with the $9,155 score. When asked how he would celebrate, he mentioned a reservation for a steak dinner this evening, with a potential cruise in the near future.

After presented with the option of bagging now or playing two more levels at 45 minutes each, the four remaining players of the first Seniors NLH Tournament elected to bag and restart tomorrow at 2 p.m.
The current chip leader is Ron Covert, with a stack of 2.1 million chips.

Today marks the highly anticipated return of the World Series of Poker Circuit to Choctaw Durant and action is kicking off with the $130 buy-in Seniors Ring Event.
Event #1: Seniors Event gets underway at 10:00 a.m. and entails a $25,000 guaranteed prizepool. This is the first of many ring events with a guarantee attached.
Registered players (who must be at least 50 years of age) start with a stack of 12,000 chips and may re-enter after elimination if registration is still open. The first event of the circuit will conclude in one day, with the event winner being rewarded the first circuit ring of the trip.
