Andrea Buonocore, Main Event Champion

The 2021/2022 World Series of Poker Circuit has crowned a new champion at Bally's Las Vegas in the $1,700 Main Event as Andrea Buonocore emerged victorious, claiming him first WSOP Circuit Ring and the top prize of $143,229 along with a seat in the tournament of Champions.

The newly crowned champion had a win to remember as he navigated through a star-studded field of 468 entrants and had two defeat two-time bracelet winner Eric Baldwin in his final match to make it to victory.

As the Dealer was halfway through counting Baldwin's stack, Buonocore decided to call. Cards were revealed. Baldwin had    and Buonocore was ahead with   .

One hand after losing a large portion of his stack, Timothy Chang open shoved on the button for 790,000. Eric Baldwin folded the small blind. Andrea Buonocore, in the big blind, insta-called and shot over   .

Jim Collopy opened to 175,000 from the cutoff and Andrea Buonocore called from the big blind.

On the flop of    , Buonocore check-called a bet of 325,000 from Collopy.

The turn brought the   and Buonocore checked again. Collopy moved all in for 2,455,000 and Buonocore went deep into the tank for a long while, then tossed in chips signifying a call.

Collopy had flopped a straight flush draw but Buonocore had flopped a straight draw and turned a backdoor flush draw. The   completed the board and Buonocore took down the pot with ace-high, eliminating Collopy in fourth place for $47,875.

The flop fell     and Buonocore check-called a bet of 175,000 from Chang.

The   turn was checked through to the   river. Buonocore fired a bet of 650,000 that was enough to take down the pot.

Andrea Buonocore opened to 165,000 on the button. He got two callers, Jim Collopy in the small blind and the big blind, Timothy Chang.

All three players checked the     flop and the board paired on the turn with the  .

Collopy checked. Chang bet 230,000. Buonocore called. Collopy called as well.

It was still three-way to the   river. Now three fives sat out on the board. Collopy checked again. Chang checked. Buonocore jammed for around 1,500,000.

Collopy thought for a bit, then folded. Chang contemplated a call as well. He tanked for just over a minute, but ultimately laid it down as well. Buonocore was awarded the pot.

Action folded to the blinds. The short stack, Bruce Vandervort, moved all in for his final 525,000. After getting the count, Andrea Buonocore called in the big blind. Cards were revealed and it was pair-over-pair with Vandervort looking good.


The first four cards laid out     . Then, a dagger landed on the river, the  . Vandervort graciously took his leave in 5th place.

Later, Timothy Chang revealed that he began the hand with a four. Vandervort's Main Event was ended by a one-outter.
