Rush ‘Spencer’ Smith came away with his first World Series of Poker gold ring Thursday evening after taming the Monster Stack.
Two starting flights saw a record-breaking 2,264 entry field take part in Event #8: $400 No-Limit Hold'em Monster Stack at the Harrah’s Cherokee Circuit series.
There were 113 players who came into Day 2 with Smith sitting atop of the counts with a comfortable lead and kept that all the way to the finish-line.
“I’m so happy right now,” Smith continued, “This is amazing, and I can’t believe it.”
The win saw Marlow bank $106,113 and a seat in the Tournament of Champions to go along with his new piece of WSOP gold.

Day 2 of the Monster stack as seen its 113-player field dwindle down to the unofficial final table of ten.
There're three players sitting over 10 million in chips, Brandon Flowers (10,050,000), Charles Wardlow (10,025,000), & Rush Smith (10,000,000) while three-time ring winner Raymond Walton sits fourth in chips with just over 9 million.
Ring winner's Brian McDaniel (2,800,000), and David Champion (2,800,000) have some work to do as they sit with the same amount at the bottom of the counts.
