Event #13
No-Limit Hold'em
Prize Pool: $55,770
Event #13: $400 No-Limit Hold’em attracted a total of 169 entries and generated a prize pool of $55. The last man standing was Jason Slayton, taking home his first career World Series of Poker Circuit gold ring, $14,007 and a seat into the $1,000,000 Prize Pool ‘Tournament of Champions’ in Las Vegas.
Slayton played through his exhaustion and battled until he earned all of the chips, “honestly, I am running on so little sleep, it just hasn’t hit me yet.” Said Slayton, “I think it’ll hit me on the drive home.”
Originally, he wasn’t going to stay and play this last event, but he decided to take a shot and play one last tournament before driving back home to his girlfriend. “I actually promised my girlfriend I’d be back for the market in Birmingham, so I am about to drive back.”
The tournament went well for Slayton for the most part, doubling up the very first hand he played after flopping a set of aces. From there his stack would do the well known up-down but eventually he made it to the final table as the chip leader. After a few short hours longer, Slayton had been announced the champion.
