The three-ring club just added its newest member as Gavin Munroe is the latest Main Event champion of the 2021/2022 World Series of Poker Circuit season after he topped a field of 536 entries to walk away with the Horseshoe Tunica $1,700 Main Event title, a $158,424 top prize, and a seat into the 2022 Tournament of Champions. 

 

Munroe came into the final day with a healthy chip lead holding over one third of the chips in play and continued on his hot streak as he eliminated four players of his final five opponents on his way to victory.

In the very first hand of heads-up, Lance Goodman raised to 400,000 and Gavin Munroe made the call.

The dealer spread a flop of     and Munroe checked to Goodman who continued for 600,000. Munroe jammed all-in and Goodman didn't take much time before announcing a call for just over 4,000,000.

Goodman had flopped top pair, while Munroe had an open-ended straight draw.

"I'm just going to hit a four and end the tournament," Munroe said confidently.

The   on the turn was no help for Munroe but the   landed on the river, completing his straight to win the tournament. Goodman finished in second place for $97,905.

Elanit Hasas open-jammed for 1,535,000 from the button and Gavin Munroe called from the small blind.

Hasas was behind needing help and did find a pair on the      flop, but the   turn followed by the   river ended her Main Event in third place for $72,026

Gavin Munroe raised to 175,000 and both Lance Goodman and Elanit Hasas made the call.

The action checked through to the river on the       and Goodman checked before Hasas bet 205,000. Munroe quickly folded and Goodman called.

Goodman tabled    for a flush and Hasas tossed her cards into the muck.

Scott Mauer opened to 200,000 from under the gun and then called off his 2,000,000 stack after Gavin Munroe three-bet jammed from the big blind.

Mauer was behind holding two overs and didn't mind the     flop that gave him the nut flush draw. 

The   paired the board on the turn, leaving Mauer needing to connect with the river, but the   completed the board and ended his Main Event run in fourth place for $53,640.

Lance Goodman raised to 170,000 on the button and Gavin Munroe defended the big blind.

The flop came     and Munroe check-called a bet of 275,000.

The   paired the turn and both players checked to seethe   on the river.

Munroe announced all-in, putting Goodman to the test for his remaining 1,575,000. After about 10-seconds Goodman made the call. 

Munroe tabled    for a missed straight draw and Goodman took down the pot with   .

There was heads-up action between Lance Goodman from the small blind and Elanit Hasas from the big blind with a      board showing. 

Goodman announced "all-in," and Hasas snapped off her 780,000 stack.

Lance Goodman shoved on the button and Elanit Hasas was in the small blind and asked for a count. After the dealer counted out 895,000 she announced all-in for about 1,600,000. Gavin Munroe quickly folded in the big blind and both hands were tabled.

Hasas was in the lead with pocket eights and the flop came    , giving her two pair. The   changed nothing but the   on the river counterfeit her hand and Goodman scooped the pot with ace-high.

Elanit Hasas and Gavin Munroe were duking it out with a      board showing. 

Hasas check-jammed from the big blind for 1,135,000 after Munroe fired out 275,000 from under the gun and then called.

Hasas pulled ahead after turning the nut straight and the   river improved her hand to a flush and secured her doble-up.

Elanit Hasas raised to 110,000 from the cutoff and was called by Dongwuk Moon from the button, Gavin Munroe from the small blind, along with Scott Mauer from the big blind. 

The     flop was checked to Hasas who continued for 150,000 and Moon called. 

Action was back on Munroe who check-raised to 475,000 and Mauer quickly released his hand.

Hasas followed suit and mucked her hand as well while Moon three-bet jammed. Action was back on Munroe who called, and the two players tabled their hands.

Both players flopped the flush, but Munroe held the better end and the   turn didn't change a thing. 

Moon needed a six of spades on the river to stay alive but the   completed the board and ended his Main Event run.

Gavin Munroe raised under the gun to 105,000 and Dongwuk Moon defended the big blind.

The flop came     and Moon check-raised Munroe's bet of 75,000 to 225,000.

"You're pretty good at check-raising," Observed Munroe. 
Moon responded, "I know you'll bet so I don't have to."

After a few moments Munroe decided to toss his cards into the muck.
