Michael Zuro secured his first World Series of Poker cash on Sunday along with a piece of gold hardware in the process. The 55-year-old, hailing from Portland Oregon, navigated his way through 1,585 entrants in Event #2: $400 No-Limit Hold'em Multi-Flight at Horseshoe Tunica.
The tournament featured four separate starting flights, which combined to bring in a total prizepool of $523,050. Zuro made it through the second starting flight on Friday, bagging 610,000 in chips. He had a break on Saturday before restarting at noon on Sunday for Day 2 of the ring event.
Among a group of 81 advancing players, Zuro chipped up on Day 2 and eventually made the final table with the most chips.
It was a cruise to the finish line for Zuro, as he accumulated every chip in play and took home a sizable payday of $77,895 along with his shiny gold ring.
“It feels good to win,” Zuro said after his victory. “I haven’t really played much after starting my company called Zline Kitchen with my brother so to be able to take such a long time off and come back to a victory feels really nice.”
The victory was nice for Zuro but the family man knows just where the true victory lies, “You know, the only thing that truly matters is family,” stated Zuro.
“I’m a father of six, I have four daughters and two sons. My son is a very talented basketball player and had a full college scholarship, but he can’t play anymore because hes had surgery on both of his feet. This money will be used him through college and that is what makes me truly happy about this win.”

With 10 players remaining in the multi-flight, the unofficial final table has been set with JJ Kuchenmiester holding the top stack with 6 million.
Ring winner Daniel Marcus (1,500,000), three-time ring winner Hamid Izadi (1,395,000), and ring winner Jeremy Eyer (750,000) are the only three ring winners at the final table and have an uphill battle if they hope to claim another.
