The first of two starting flights in the 2019 World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event at Harrah's New Orleans is in the books after 16 levels of play. There were 226 players who took a shot at this flight but only 32 players remained by the end of the night.
Big names littered today's field and at the end of the day, it is three-time ring winner Johnny Landreth who bagged the chip lead with an impressive stack of 470,500. Landreth already has a WSOP Circuit Main Event title as he won the Horseshoe Tunica Main Event of the 2014/2015 WSOP Circuit season. Landreth has $465,843 in total earnings at the WSOP and will be looking to claim another Main Event title. He is followed closely by two-time ring winner Stephen Song with 437,500. Song will be looking to add another ring to his collection. Jeff Brauberge rounds up the top three with 403,000.
Other notables to advance chip stacks to Day 2 include Dustin Stewart (372,500), Justin Harvell (179,000), David Potter (178,000), Darren Martin (170,000), and Aaron Lasater (125,500).
Players that were not fortunate enough to make it to the end of the day include 2018 WSOP Main Event Runner-Up Tony Miles, as well as bracelet winner Warren Sheaves, thirteen-time ring winner Maurice Hawkins, nine-time ring winner Robert Hankins, and ring winners Michael Lech, Jeffrey Trudeau, Timothy Burt, Hamid Izadi, and Lance Williams.
The second flight of the Main Event will begin tomorrow at 11 a.m. local time with registration and re-entries being open until the start of level 13.
The 32 players that survived will return for Day 2 at 12:00 PM local time on Sunday May 19th along with all of tomorrow’s Day 1B survivors.
