Circuit veteran Andre Allen has won the first Circuit title of his career by taking down Event #12 at Circuit Hard Rock Tulsa, $400 No-Limit Hold'em (1 Day). The victory gives Allen a $17,070 first-place payday along with his first gold Circuit ring.

Allen arrived at this event's talented final table with one of the shorter stacks in play, but battled back to the win. Allen's final foe was Wichita, KS's Tyler Heng, who earned $10,547 in his first Circuit cash. Seven-time ring winner Daniel "Duma" Lowery took third for $7,616.

The win was payback of sorts for Allen as well, as he finished as the runner-up to Lowery in Event #5, $400 No-Limit Hold'em Double Stack, less than a week ago.

"The third time's the charm!" exclaimed Allen after his win, referring to the number of final tables he's made this series. Allen also moved into the temporary lead in this stop's Casino Champion race, though the eventual finishing spot of Main Event leader Maurice Hawkins in that event's Monday finale will likely determine the Casino Championship battle for this series.

Allen admitted it was nice to get another crack at the talented Lowery, who's also had a great series and remains technically alive in the Casino Champion race as well. "I was happy to get a second shot at that. But I'll take on whoever's in that spot."

"It's been a long grind," he added. "I'm just happy to finally get the win. I've been at this 18 years. I've been traveling [to play events] since 2012. This stop was a good one." Allen has been playing full time for just the past couple of years.

Allen, who earlier was a worker in a Ford Motor Co. plant, was thinking of his four chidren frequently in the wake of his win. He uses a pair of unique card cappers while playing, a matching pair of custom-made medallions -- one silver, one bronze -- with each side of both of the two coins also having a small embedded photo of one of his four children.
