Susie Genard has just won her second career WSOP Circuit gold ring. Genard defeated a 156-player field in the $400 H.O.R.S.E. event to earn $14,413 and become a WSOP Circuit champion for the second time. It's the first time Genard has won a WSOP H.O.R.S.E. event. Her first ring came in 2016 in an Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better event.

"I feel psyched," said Genard. "I was due."

Genard, who is from Huntington Beach, California, now has seven career WSOP cashes. Four of the seven cashes are World Series of Poker bracelet cashes, two are from the Bicycle Casino Circuit's and this is her first at a Rio Circuit event. All seven of her cashes have come in either Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better events, or limit mixed game events.

"If you look results wise, just because I have played so many Omaha 8 events, you'd have to say Omaha," said Genard when I asked what her best game of the H.O.R.S.E. rotation was, "But I think Stud 8 is my best game."

In 2016, Genard final tabled the Bicycle Casino Circuit's $365 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better event both times the Circuit was there that year. The first time she won the event for her first Circuit ring and a $10,490 payout. The second time she missed out on defending her title by one position and finished runner-up for $5,620.

Genard can attribute some of her tournament success to being a fan of short-handed poker. Once the tournament gets down to the last few players, it's tough to beat her. Also, a majority of the time she has more experience than her final table opponents.

"I played ten years of stud only," said Genard. "I have played probably a million years of Stud 8 or Better."

Genard said that if she has the bankroll she wants to play some bracelet events this summer. Until then, she is working on starting a new business.

The top 16 players will cash and everyone reaching the money is guaranteed a minimum payout of $704. Tomorrow's winner will earn $14,413 and a WSOP Circuit ring.
