Jonathan Sherfy and his father
Jonathan Sherfy only had two cashes in a World Series of Poker event before Sunday when the $250 no-limit hold'em single-day event kicked off. Sherfy's third cash was a significant one as he bested the 458-entry field, scoring his first Circuit ring and $19,675.
Just because he lacked a significant live resume, the San Diego is certainly no stranger to the poker table. The San Diego native has been a professional poker player for the last decade. He's one of the internet's best sit n' go players and after Black Friday, he decided to move across the border and into Mexico to continue his online poker career. He has since moved back to San Diego, but still makes his living playing on the internet. He defeated Andrew Cha heads-up to take down the title.
