Shahin Shojaeyan - Event #13 Winner - Poses with Family
Shahin Shojaeyan took down final ring event of the World Series of Poker Circuit stop at Harveys Lake Tahoe series. The 40-year-old Banker defeated a field of 196 entries in Event #13: $400 No-Limit Hold'em Double Stack to win $16,815 and his first WSOP gold ring. The tournament took two-days to complete.
Going into Day 2, Shojaeyan was in the middle of the pack among 11 players. He was up against the likes of six-time gold ring winner, Daniel Lowery, four-time gold ring winner, Kevin Davis, and a familiar face as well.
“This exact event, I got 3rd the year I played it. And actually, my cousin and I both final tabled it that year and we did it again this time, which is nuts,” said Shojaeyan.
Shojaeyan’s cousin, Mike Heshmati, also made a run in Event #13, but went out in 6th place. In the end, it was Shojaeyan and Madhavan “Mamba” Ramanjujam heads up for the ring. Shojaeyan ultimately took it down and had a lucky trinket to be revealed upon winning.
“So, my kids were up here this year because we come up here a lot for this particular series,” said Shojaeyan “… they had to leave Sunday to get to school and stuff. And before I left, he had, by himself, drew this goofy picture and put it on my brief case,” he continued “So, this morning, for the final table, I was like ‘I’m gonna take it for good luck and if I win it I’m going to put it in the picture.’”

It took only seven minutes of Day 2 to reach an unofficial final table.Jesse Capps was the victim bubbling the unofficial final table. Daniel Lowery still stands as the chip leader with 1,732,000 now.

Only an hour separates Event #13 players and their Day 2 restart. With 11 competitors remaining, the field is just one knockouts away from the unofficial final table. Chip counts and seating assignments will be posted following the redraw.
Daniel Lowery begins Day 2 with a big chip lead. His stack of 1,616,000 is well beyond most of his opponents. Lowery is striving for his seventh career gold ring. Another player looking to add to his gold ring collection is four-time Circuit winner Kevin Davis. Possibly more important however, Davis needs to place at least 6th to lock up the Harveys Lake Tahoe Casino Championship.

END OF DAY 1
The clock has struck zero on Level 22, which means Day 1 of Event #13
is complete. From a field of 196 entrants, only 11 players still lay
claim to a chip stack. The largest of those stacks, by far, is Dan
Lowery's. The six-time gold ring winner towers over his opponents with
1,616,000. On the other end of the spectrum, Jesse Capps is the short
stack with 110,000. Capps is still looking for an elusive, first gold
ring, but will have some work to do on Day 2.
Action restarts at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.

Sunday afternoon features the start of the final ring event of the Harveys Lake Tahoe Circuit series. Event #13: $400 No-Limit Hold'em Double Stack commences at 2:00 p.m. and is scheduled to play 22 levels in Day 1. Day 2 will begin Monday at 1:00 p.m.
The registration window will remain open till the start of Level 13 and unlimited re-entry is allowed during that period. Besides anyone cashing in the Main Event, this will be players last chance to earn points toward the Casino Championship race.
Here is a quick rundown of Event #13:
- Players start with 30,000 tournament chips
- Blinds start at 25/50
- Day 1 is scheduled to play 21 levels
- Registration remains open until the start of Level 13
- Levels 30-minutes long
- There is a break every two hours
- Day 2 will resume Monday at 2:00 p.m.
- The winner will receive a WSOP Circuit gold ring
