Edward Liu

 In the early hours of Friday morning, Edward Liu won his third Circuit ring in the $365 no-limit hold'em turbo event. He won $12,585 and defeated Lloyd Mashore heads-up to earn the title. The win not only gave him his third ring, but also the lead in the race for Casino Champion.

Thanks to a sixth place finish in the third event of the series and his win the turbo, he overtakes Hermilo Vargas for the lead. Liu is a Southern California native who works in finance part-time and plays cash games semi-professionally to help support his wife and three-year old child.

With about seven minutes remaining in the level 19 with blinds of 3,000/6,000 and a 1,000 ante, the $365 no-limit hold'em turbo event is down to its final 10 players. Players have redrawn for seats at the unofficial final table and after one more elimiantion, the final nine players will be credited with making the final table.

Everybody is guaranteed at least $925, but the winner will earn $12,585. Here is a look at the seating arrangement and chip counts of the final 10 players:

The staff finished the payout calculations and with a 150-entry field, the top 15 players will finish in the money. A min-cash is wroth $760 and the winner will take home $12,585.

Level 7 is underway and registration is closed. For the eighth event of the series, there are 150 entries in the field, which generates a prizepool of $45,000.

The staff is calculating the payouts and they will be released shortly.

At the end of the first break, the $365 no-limit hold'em turbo event is already up to 112 entries. The blinds are now 100/200 and registration is open for just over another hours. Here is a look at the structure for the first of two single-day events:

The first of two one-day turbo events starts on Thursday afternoon. The $365 no-limit hold'em turbo event is the eighth event of the series and starts at 3 PM. Here are the details:

  • Players start with 15,000 in tournament chips
  • Blinds start at 25/50
  • There is unlimited re-entry while registration is open
  • Registration is open until the start of level 9 (~5:25 p.m.)
  • Day 1 is scheduled for 18, 40-minute levels
  • There are 10-minute breaks after levels 3, 6, 10, 12, and 15, a 15-minute break after level 8
  • Surviving players will return on Friday at 1 p.m. to play to a winner
