Don Dove
Don Dove, a native of Baltimore and current resident of New Orleans, represented his home city well in the early hours of Saturday morning. Dove won the $365 no-limit hold'em single-day event, earning $17,551 and his first Circuit ring.
In a series that featured many out-of-town pros winning milestone rings, Dove made sure that at least one ring would stay in the area. Dove is a freelance writer that moved from Baltimore down to Alabama for graduate school, where he got his MFA at the University of Alabama.
He defeated a final table that featured several Circuit regulars and some very talented players. Two-time ring winner Wendy Freedman finished in fourth, ring winner David Gunas fell in sixth and Jesse Capps finished in seventh place. Dove defeated Philip Walsh heads-up to earn the title.
