Edward "Dub" Dixon - Event #11 Winner

Edward "Dub" Dixon took down Event #11: $365 No-Limit Hold'em (1 Re- Entry). The Detroit, Michigan native walked away with $10,163 and his first World Series of Poker gold ring.

When the unofficial table was reached, all ten finalists were fairly close in chips. Dixon sat with a middle-of-the-pack stack, but did not take long to chip up. Eventually it boiled down to Dixon and TM Williams. The two players are well acquainted from their time spent traveling the Circuit.

It was a hard-fought battle, but in the end, Williams fell just short of his first gold ring. Another unfortunate casualty of Williams placement was the Casino Championship. The Poker Pro finished with an astounding three final table appearances at the Horseshoe Council Bluffs series, accumulating a total of 90 points. A first-place finish would have secured him enough points to reign as the Casino Champ.

Dixon ultimately played the spoiler, but came away with a redemption victory of his own. The fun-loving Poker Pro now has 12 cashes on the WSOP Circuit. His last cash happened less than a month ago when he finished as the runner-up of Event #11 at the Hard Rock Tulsa Circuit. This time around Dixon did not settle for anything less than number one.

END OF DAY 1

After 15 levels of poker, the field of 121 was whittled down to just 14 players. Event #11 dipped one spot into the money. Each of the advancing players has secured at least $744.

Leading the surviving group is Patrick Watkins who bagged with just short of 200,000. Ranking second in chips at the end of Day 1 was two-time gold ring winner Jovan Sudar, who now has his third cash of the series. Lately, Sudar has been running deep but ultimately making a mess of things when it comes down to the crucial moments. With 142,000 to begin Day 2 with he should have a chance to break through this time around.
