Sochetra Chansan

In his first-ever pot-limit Omaha tournament, Sochetra Chansan won his first ring. The 43-year-old originally from Cambodia defeated 174 entries to win $46,982 and his first Circuit title. Chansan defeated Curtis Anderson heads-up to culminate a long day of poker that lasted about 13 hours, including three-handed action that lasted over five alone. Anderson took home $29,034 for his runner-up finish.

The $1,125 pot-limit Omaha is down to its final 10 players and they have redrawn for seats at the unofficial final table. There are a few minutes left in level 18 with blinds of 4,000/8,000. Everybody is guaranteed at least $3,391 and the eventual winner will leave with $46,982.

At the end of the 12 scheduled levels of play, the $1,125 pot-limit Omaha is done for the day and Chris Carey bagged up the biggest stack of the final 27 players to take the chip lead into the second and final day of the event.

Carey finished the day with 266,900 and Sergio Ramirez is the only other player with over 200,000, finishing with 228,800 and will start Friday second in chips. Eight-time ring winner Josh Reichard (177,900), Nicholas Seiken (163,600) and Spencer Hudson (155,000) round out the top five. Other notables to finish the day with chips include Brian Green (82,100), Andrew Watson (66,700), Chris Conrad (64,600), four-time ring winner Mark Fink (50,300), Maxx Coleman (40,500), Bob Cote (32,200) and Allen Kessler (21,000).

With three tables remaining, the final 27 players will need to lose an entire table of players before they are in the money on Friday, with the top 18 spots securing a payday. They will return at 2 p.m. and will play down to a winner.

The staff released the payouts for the $1,125 pot-limit Omaha and with a 174-entry field, the top 18 spots will cash for at least $2,333 and the winner will take home $46,982.

Level 9 is underway and the blinds are 500/1,000. Registration is closed for the final event before the main event and there are 174 entries in the $1,125 pot-limit Omaha, which generated a prizepool of $174,000.

The staff is calculating the payouts and will be released shortly.

The $1,125 pot-limit Omaha is nearing its second break of the day with level 6 on the verge of completion. There are already 155 entries in the event thus far and registration is open until the start of level 9.

The last event of the series before the start of the Circuit's staple event, the $1,675 no-limit hold'em main event, starts on Thursday evening. The $1,125 pot-limit Omaha event gets cards in the air at 5 p.m. and here are the details:

  • Players start with 15,000 in tournament chips
  • Blinds start at 25/50
  • There are breaks after every two hours of play
  • There are unlimited re-entries and late registration while registration is open
  • Registration is open until the start of level 9
  • Day 1 is scheduled for 12, 40-minute levels before they bag and tag chips for the night.
  • Players who survive the day will return on Friday to play down to a winner
