Congratulations to Darren Bortmas of Roseville, California for taking down the opening event in the first ever World Series of Poker Circuit series at Thunder Valley Casino Resort. Bortmas defeated Sasha Sabbaghian heads-up to pocket $72,754 and his first gold ring. The local Arson Investigator for the Roseville Firefighters topped a field of 1,406 entries to take down this four-day event.

Just 10 players remain in Event #1 in a field that ballooned to 1,406 entries for a prizepool of $421,800. Leading the final table is Jaruslaw Markowiak with 2,640,000 chips followed by the next eight players in a similar range of stacks and ending with two short stacks.

The start-of-day chip leader Al Sanchez is still in the mix with 1,725,000 and currently sits in second position. All of the remaining players are guaranteed a payout worth $5,821 but all eyes are on the first-place prize of $72,754 and the gold Circuit ring.

Players are on a dinner break and will return to blinds at 25,000/50,000 with a 5,000 ante.

The opening event in the first ever World Series of Poker Circuit event at Thunder Valley Casino Resort restarts for Day 2 at 11:00 a.m. A total of 191 players of the staggering 1,406 entries remain, with the hopes of winning a coveted gold ring and the first-place prize worth $72,754. Just 153 players will make the money, and the bubble should be just around the corner. This is the final day in this event and will play down to a winner.

The numbers are in for the very first ring event at Thunder Valley Casino Resort. Event #1 attracted a total of 1,406 entries putting together a prizepool worth $421,800 paying out 153 spots.

Registration is officially closed in Event #1 in the first ring event at Thunder Valley Casino Resort. A total of 191 players are coming back for Day 2 on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. from a massive 1,406 entries across five flights. 

Leading the way is Al Sanchez with 346,500 chips after dominating Flight 1B, followed by Isaac Choi (303,000) and Arish Nat (265,000) rounding out the top three.

Flight 1E has concluded with 76 players of the massive 560 entries today. At the top of the counts is Isaac Choi from San Francisco, California with 303,000 chips. He sits in second place overall now that all flights are in the books. There will be 191 players coming back for Day 2 on Sunday at 11:00 a.m.

Registration in the fifth and final flight has concluded with 1E bringing in a whopping 560 entries. The total number of entries for the first ever ring event at Thunder Valley Casino Resort sits at 1,406 for a total prize pool worth $421,800. The guarantee was set at $250,000 and that number was knocked out of the park.

The day has ended with 32 players bagging their stacks to conclude Flight 1D. The chip leader is Mitch Gamble of Roseville,California with 201,500 chips, good for a top ten stack overall.

Across four of five flights, 115 players have now made their way to Day 2 on Sunday. Flight 1E is the last chance to advance, beginning on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

Players in Flight 1C have bagged their chips, with 39 contenders coming back for Day 2. Arish Nat of Elk Grove, California finished as the chip leader with 265,000, putting him in second in chips overall. There are now a total of 83 players advancing, with two flights to go in this event.

Registration in Flight 1D closes at 8:30 p.m. and the final flight begins on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

The second of five flights has wrapped up with 17 players from 154 entries at the close of registration. Al Sanchez of Penryn, California leads with 346,500 in chips, good for both the Flight 1B and overall chip lead so far.  

Of the 356 total entries between the first two starting flights, a total of 44 players have advanced to Day 2.

The opening flight of the first ever World Series of Poker Circuit event at Thunder Valley Casino Resort has wrapped up. Just 27 players remain of the 202 entries that made up Flight 1A at the close of registration. Leading the way is Thomas Emerson of Roseville, California with 202,500 in chips.

Registration in Flight 1B is open for a short while longer, with three more flights scheduled across the next two days. Day 2 will play down to a winner, with cards in the air on Sunday, September 17 at 11:00 a.m.
