Level 8 is ticking off the clock, and this level represents the last chance for late registration and re-entries. There's a break after this level, and the window will close once the new level begins.

The field has climbed up over 80 entries with just over a half hour left in the registration period.

The first four levels are complete, and the field is on their first 15-minute break of Day 1. The board shows 66 entries so far, with late registration and re-entry available for another four levels.

Cards are in the air for Event #2.

The series' first event is well under way on one side of the room, but there's another event set to begin for those who are otherwise unoccupied. This afternoon's event is the $365 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better, the lone non-hold'em event on the calendar for this stop.

Last year, this tournament was spread in the hi-only format, and it attracted 124 entries. Texas native Gerardo Tavira outlasted them all, picking up his first gold ring and the top prize of more than $10,000. A similar turnout can be anticipated today.

Here are the details for this matinee:

  • This is a two-day event
  • Players begin with 10,000 in tournament chips
  • Levels 1-12 are 30 minutes apiece
  • Levels 13-19 are 40 minutes apiece
  • Late registration and unlimited re-entry are available until the start of Level 9 (8:30 p.m.)

Cards go in the air at 4 p.m.
