Event #12: $365 No-Limit Hold'em (30-minute levels)

Scott Quimby bounces back from a Main Event bad beat to win the final event of the series.

MILWAUKEE (February 14, 2017) – Scott Quimby has won the final event of the inaugural Potawatomi World Series of Poker Circuit series. He defeated 246 players in the one-day event to earn his first career WSOP Circuit gold ring and become Potawatomi’s final champion.

This series was the first time Quimby had ever played in World Series of Poker events. He played in three events, including the Main Event. Quimby cashed twice over the course of the series and racked up $19,130 in tournament earnings.

“I played in the Main Event and busted about two minutes before Day 2. I had aces cracked by ace-queen, said Quimby. “It left a little sour taste, so I decided to come back.”

Quimby’s decision to return to play in the final event after a bad break in the Main Event paid off handsomely. The first place finish earned Quimby $18,083 and of course some bragging rights. His plan to celebrate the victory is to first call his buddies and share the great news. He is going to let his buddies know that “he told them so,” about winning a gold ring. Then he plans on going and buying himself some ice cream.

Quimby said that the experience of playing in the two events earlier in the week helped him in this tournament. He said that he made a bad play midway through the tournament that left him with less than five big blinds.

“I think having been through the last two tournaments, I, just was able to calm down, refocus, and not go on tilt or anything.”

Quimby picked up aces two hands in a row to double up twice and get back in the mix after getting down to his last few blinds. The rest was history.

“It was a lot of fun,” said Quimby.

Quimby would like to play in the $10,000 Main Event – World Championship one day. He said that hopefully some of this prize money will go toward making that goal a reality.

Event #12 was the final of 12 gold ring events on the WSOP Circuit schedule at Potawatomi. The $365 no-limit hold'em tournament with 30-minutes levels attracted 246 players generating an $73,800 prize pool. The top 18 players were paid.

It was a one-day event. The tournament began at 11 a.m. Monday and finished at about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday.

The final event of the Potawatomi Circuit series drew 246 entries to generate a $73,800 prizepool. The winner will earn $18,083, a WSOP Circuit gold ring and 50 Global Casino Championship points. The top 27 spots will cash and everyone reaching the money will walk away with at least $596.

• Players start with 10,000 tournament chips
• Blinds begin at 25/50
• Registration remains open until the start of Level 9 (3:20 p.m.)
• Players are allowed one re-entry
• All levels are 30 minutes long
• There is a 45-minute dinner break after Level 12
• This is a one-day event
