Mark Threadgill, after a long chase, won his first career gold ring with his wife supporting him the whole way.
Stateline, Nevada (October 31, 2016) – Mark Threadgill outlasted a field of 97 players to claim his first ever gold ring. His loving wife watched on as he took down Event #5: $365 No-Limit Hold’em. When asked how the win felt, Threadgill gave a sigh of relief before answering with, “Unbelievable.”
Threadgill started playing poker around 10 to 15 years ago and has been chasing a big victory like this one for a long time. Before this conquest, he had a few final table appearances in his career and WSOP earnings of just over $4,000. With a top-prize worth $8,729, this was Threadgill’s largest cash to date. However, it was not the money that drove his ambition for a first-place finish.
“The money didn’t mean anything. This is what meant something,” Threadgill said, referencing the coveted gold ring in the in his possession.
Him and his wife Brenda, based out of Hallettsville, Texas, travel all over the United States, playing poker as they go. Though it is not only the WSOP Circuit tours they follow, this stop will certainly be their most memorable. Threadgill will look to continue his success here at Harvey’s Lake Tahoe.
“I’ll hopefully stay here and win another ring and win the Casino Championship.”
Both Brenda and Mark have recorded a cash so far. Mark’s first cash was only worth 2.5 points, but his recent accomplishment brings him into a contending position. Threadgill now has a total of 52.5 points in the Casino Championship race, but trails Chad DeLanzo’s 77.5 benchmark.

players in Event #5: $365 No-Limit Hold'em to win
$7,446 and 50 Casino Championship points. The tournament was completed in two
days here at Harvey's Lake Tahoe,with Threadgill reaping the ultimate prize in the end.

The two remaining contenders have been locked in a fierce battle for nearly two levels now. Threadgill scored a crucial double up early in heads-up play and then went on to overtake the chip lead. Here is a look at chip counts at the break:

Drake has over $50,000 in Circuit earnings, and over $700,000 in overall WSOP earnings. A large majority of his winnings came from his extremely deep run in the 2014 MONSTER STACK Event at the Rio in Las Vegas.
Greg Brown and Mark Threadgill will now face off in a heads-up battle. Brown has a commanding chip lead.

The clocks struck two and only four of the five remaining players were situated at the table. They agreed to wait at least 10 minutes for the fifth competitor to arrive, but it only took Richard Fitzgerald a couple ticks to come out of the woodwork.
Putting an extra stamp on his entrance, Fitzgerald, who came in as the short stack, shoved all-in on the very first hand. He got a call from Greg Brown and Fitzgerald's Ace-Three was no match for Brown's Ace-Queen.
Fitzgerald exits in 5th place, taking away $2,067 and 25 Casino Championship points.

A fairly small field
of 97 players flocked to play in Event #5: $365 No-Limit Hold'em. These entrants took to the felt, scrapped til the wee hours of the morning, and are
now down to the final five. Sean Drake, who came into the final table as second in chips, is now the current chip
leader. Five players strive for the gold ring, but only one will claim the ultimate prize.
Play is set to resume at 2:00 pm on Monday.

are both still alive, adding to their already impressive series here in
Stateline.
However, if they want to
add to their Casino Champion points total they will have to breach the
top twelve. Points are only awarded to players who finish in-the-money
during WSOPC ring events.

Another day at Harvey's Lake Tahoe comes to light and another No-Limit Hold'em event will be taking action. The tournament begins at 3:00 pm on Sunday, October 30th and is scheduled to conclude the following night. There will be no option for re-entry, so players must make their first, and only, bullet count.
Here is a quick rundown of Event #5:
- Buy-in: $365
- Registration is open until the start of Level 9 (~7:30 pm)
- No re-entry is allowed
- Players begin with 10,000 in tournament chips
- Blinds start at 25/50
- Levels 1-12 will be 30 minutes long, Levels 13-21 will be 40 minutes long, and 22+ will be 50 minutes long
- There will be a 15-minute break after Level 4, 8, 15, 21, 23, 27, and 29
- A 45-minute dinner break is scheduled after Level 12
- Day 2 will resume at 2:00 pm on Monday
- Global Casino Championship points are awarded to all players earning a cash
- The winner will receive a WSOP Circuit gold ring
