Coasting through Event #8, the young poker pro, David "Andrew" Hines went on to win his first career gold ring.
Biloxi, Mississippi (September 14, 2016) – Andrew Hines outlasted a field of 229 players in Event #8: $365 No-Limit Hold’em Monster Stack to win his first Circuit gold ring. The tournament lasted two days and concluded Thursday evening on the IP main stage.
Previously a poker dealer, Hines has transitioned to poker playing being his full-time profession. This win could be a sign of good things to come for the 24-year-old. The career switch seems to be working out so far.
Hines had already made a solid statement before this first place finish. During the 2015/16 WSOP Circuit tour, Hines took sixth in the Harrah’s Cherokee Main Event in December. When asked to compare his Cherokee conquest to his newly prized gold ring win, Hines did not hesitate with an answer.
“I like the other one better,” Hines responded.
A gold ring is a great accomplishment, but there was a noticeable difference between the two payouts in question. Hines’ Main Event finish in Cherokee netted him a cool $56,631, while his most recent prize money was $17,174. Although Hines preferred the bigger payday, he still understood the great significance in acquiring a WSOP gold ring.
There was no real danger during Hines’ tournament play. He coasted to the final table where he held the chip lead for majority of the time it took to compete.
“I never really got low. I never really had to panic, or make any moves. I just played A B C the whole way,” said Hines.
The final table was one of the slowest during the series thus far. Hines chalked it up to simply being a tough table with a lot of good players. One of these solid players was Mark Fleddermann, who was Hines’ eventual heads up foe. Fleddermann, a seasoned pro, has two rings to his name already, but could not claim a third. It was Andrew Hines' day to shine and he will look to continue his good play. He plans to visit the next WSOP in Cherokee.

While the Mega Satellite into Event #10 was on break, players gravitated to the enduring, Monster Stack final table. A couple knockouts took place as spectators watched. Billy Zibilich went out in sixth place ($3,274) and Morton Davis in fifth place ($4,292).

The field has made it to another 15 minute break. Only one elimination has occurred since the last pause in play. Greg Besse walked away with $2,535 in seventh place.
There is a clear imbalance in the chip stacks. Mark Fleddermann and Andrew Hines hold a large majority of the chips left in play. Currently, there are three players with less than 10 big blinds left.

Players are taking a 15 minute break. There have been two knockouts since the final table began. Tommy Zhu went out in ninth place, pocketing $1,589. Shortly following, Trey Walton was eliminated in eighth, taking home $1,992.
It seems that Mark Fleddermann has retaken the chip lead. He now sits with a stack around 1.5 million chips.

The first day of the No-Limit Hold'em Monster stack has reached its stopping point. There are 14 players that survived the day out of the 229 that entered. Leading
the pack at the end of the day was Mark Fleddermann from St. Louis. He will enter Day 2 of the tournament
looking to hold his position and earn a final table berth. Also gunning for a final table appearance, which would be his second of the series, is Tommy Zhu. Play will resume tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. with blinds at 6,000/12,000 and a 2,000 ante.

A double knockout ends the money bubble, which lasted nearly half an hour. The somewhat unusual turn of events essentially created two bubble boys instead of one. Both players will split the 24th place money ($634), leaving them both with a $317 payday.

The dreaded money bubble has arrived with 25 players left. Each of the final three tables are playing hand for hand. Although Level 18 has come to an end, the blinds will not be raised until the bubble has burst.

Just as Level 18 began an elimination prompted a three table redraw. Players have consolidated their chips and found there new location. There are still 28 players still in the hunt for a gold ring.
Two players from last nights Six Max final table have made another deep run in this Monster Stack event. Tommy Ming Zhu and Jonathan Hart look to accumulate some more Casino championship points and see if they can improve their finish from the night before.

The top 24 finishers will finish in-the-money, with a minimum cash-prize of
$634.
