James Magner Leads Heading into Day 2

Day 1B of the first Main Event of the 2015/2016 WSOP Circuit season is complete. After two starting days at Foxwoods, the chip leader is James Magner, who bagged up 391,000 in chips.

Magner jumped way ahead of the rest of the field in a hand when he knocked out two players. He already held a small lead before that hand, but afterward held about three times the amount of his closest competitor.

Magner is followed on the leaderboard by Tim Lahey (288,000), Cate Hall (248,500), Soukha Kachittavo (248,500), Rohan Long (220,000), and Joseph Johannsy (215,000), who led after Day 1A.

Others advancing include bracelet winner Chris Tryba (163,59), Ted Driscoll (159,000), Ness Reilly (60,500), her husband Tim (80,500), and Brad St. Vincent (143,000), who recently finished fourth in the 2015 WSOP National Championship.

The Reillys were the last couple standing in the WSOP Main Event last month in Las Vegas. Tim finished in 360th place, Ness finished 244th, and they have a chance to both cash here at Foxwoods as well.

Day 1A of the event attracted 171 entries on Friday, and another 290 registered on Day 1B for a total of 461 entries. Only 91 advanced to Day 2 (38 from Friday and 53 from Saturday). The top 54 players will make the money, and the winner will earn $149,020. A full payout structure is available here.

In addition to the first-place prize, the winner of the Main Event will earn a free entry into 2016 WSOP Global Casino Championship. That invitation-only event will have a minimum prize pool of $1,000,000, and the free entry is valued at $10,000.

The flop comes    , keeping her opponent in the lead, but giving Hall a lot of flush outs. Without waiting, the   came on the turn giving Hall the flush. The   came on the river, eliminating her opponent.

Registration has officially closed, and there are a total of 461 entries. The prize pool is $693,113, and the top 54 players will be paid.

The winner will earn $149,020, and a min-cash is worth $2,633.

Ted Driscoll raises to 4,200 from the cutoff, and Mark Perry moves all in from the button for 23,400. Driscoll calls, and the players turn up their cards.

William Wachter is all in on a     flop against Andrew Badecker. Wachter has an overpair with his    but Badecker has flopped top two pair with his   . Wachter is about to get up but the dealer puts the   on the turn, giving him a king high straight. Badecker still has outs to a full house, but the   hits the river instead. Andrew has to pay off an all in of 23,400, leaving him with half of what he started the hand with.

Brad St. Vincent raises to 3,500, and Bryan Leskowitz calls from the button. The flop comes    , and both players check.

The turn is the  , and St. Vincent bets 3,200. Leskowitz calls, and the   falls on the river. St. Vincent checks, and Leskowitz bets 10,600. St. Vincent thinks for a minute, then mucks his cards.

"Did you have King-Queen?" St. Vincent asks. Leskowitz turns over   , as the dealer pushes him the pot.

A player in late position raises to 4,000, Joe Heinzmann reraises to 11,000, the original raiser shoves all in, and Heinzmann calls.

The flop comes    . But Heinzmann takes the lead when the   hits the turn. The   comes on the river and Heinzmann eliminates his opponent. His opponent stood up and said, "Of course, why wouldn't it come," before walking away from the table.

Just before the last break, James Magner knocked out two players and took a big chip lead.

The hand started innocently enough, with James Magner - already the chip leader at that point - raising to 6,000 and getting three callers. The flop fell     and the small blind checked to Magner, who continued for 9,000. The opponent to his left raised to 20,000, and the small blind check-raised to 45,000. Magner declared himself all in, the next player called all in for around 67,000 total (less than Magner), and the small blind had a big decision for the rest of his chips. As the rest of the field went on their last break of the night, the small blind counted and re-counted his chips before finally deciding to call all in as well.

The small blind had made a good call with his flopped flush, and there were only five diamonds left in the deck that could hurt him. The   promptly fell on the turn, leaving Magner with an higher flush. The meaningless   hit the river, and Magner's two opponents were sent to the rail.

Magner, who infamously folded a big pair preflop in the WSOP Main Event, is now up to 423,000 in chips.
