Just before the break, Cory Waaland's (pictured) stack took a huge hit at the hands of the player to his direct left. The gentleman squeezed all-in with behind a raise and a call. Waaland was the initial caller, and he called once again to put his opponent at risk with his . It was a nasty run out for Waaland, coming to make a heart flush for the all-in player.
Down to 51,000, Waaland just got the rest of his chips in with ace-four against an opponent's ace-jack. According to Waaland, the two remaining aces both hit the board, but the opponent's kicker played to send him off to the cashier.
It's not all bad news for Waaland, though. He's the current leader in the Casino Champion race for this stop and the favorite to earn a seat in the WSOP National Championship. He's just jumped into the final ring event over on the other side of the room, his last chance to accrue points here in the Big Easy.
