Jose Pinedamoncad Leads End Of Day 1 Event #42: $1,500 Extended Play

Jose Pinedamoncada

Jose Pinedamoncada finished the day as chip leader after seven 90-minute levels bagging up 113,950 just edging ahead of Philipp Roth in second place with 112,050.

Other notables who survived to make it through include Yevgeniy Timoshenko (73,850), Henry Tran (73,000), Barny Boatman (61,650), Mukul Pahuja (39,800), Antonio Esfandiari (21,075) and Martin Staszko (13,250).

The Extended Play tournament is new on the WSOP schedule for 2015 and was structured to give entrants a lot more play for their $1,500 and it has certainly proved popular with recreational and professional players alike.

Registration closed just before midnight and the final tally was 1,914 entrants generating a prize pool of $2,583,900 with the eventual winner set to receive $478,102. That is a long way in the future though in what is scheduled to be a four day event. There will be 543 players taking their seats tomorrow and with the top 198 places getting paid the money bubble could burst late in the day.

Some of the big name players this event attracted who failed to make it through to Day 2 include Eugene Katchalov, Joe Cada, Erick Lindgren, Dennis Phillips, Maurice Hawkins, Joe Keuther and Ari Engel.

Action resumes tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the Amazon purple and orange sections when another seven levels of play will happen with blinds resuming at 250/500 with a 50 ante. WSOP.com will bring you all the action from start to finish so be sure to stay tuned.
