Darvin Moon Joins the Party
Darvin Moon nearly lived every home game hero's dream in 2009, going on a magical run during the WSOP Main Event and nearly winning the world championship.
Moon had to settle for a runner-up finish that year, with Joe Cada claiming the crown, but he did take home a $5,182,601 consolation prize. Like Chris Moneymaker before him, the amateur parlayed a small satellite into one of poker's most significant payouts, and since 2009 he's put together a a few cashes on the Heartland Poker Tour.
Famous for busting fan favorite Phil Ivey during the final table, his ace-queen spiking to crack the pro's ace-king, Moon gave hope the everyman everywhere by proving that anything can happen when the cards are in the air at the WSOP.
