Fagerbakke Breaks Through for First WSOP Cash
Bill Fagerbakke (pictured) has experienced plenty of success in his life, receiving multiple scholarship offers to play college football before knee injuries derailed that potential career. Perhaps taking the actor's sentiment "break a leg" to heart, Fagerbakke soon gravitated toward the stage, eventually landing a co-starring role on the hit sitcom Coach in the 1990s.
Fagerbakke played "Dauber" for nine seasons, and he also played Marshall's father on 11 episodes of How I Met Your Mother. Today, Fagerbakke lends his voice to Patrick Star, the sidekick of animated hero SpongeBob SquarePants.
Poker is another of Fagerbakke's passions, and during the last few years here at the WSOP he's tried his hand in a slew of the smaller buy-in events. And although he has about $60,000 in reported live earnings, he's never made the money in a bracelet event here at the Rio - until today,
Fagerbakke played his short stack into the money before falling in 102nd place, earning $3,610 for his efforts. With residual checks still rolling in from his now syndicated television shows, it's likely that the money doesn't mean all that much to Fagerbakke, but finally breaking through to record his first WSOP cash is surely a special moment for him.
