Russ Head Continues To Climb

Action is heads up on a board of and Russ Head checks from the blinds to a player in middle position, who bets 4,000. Head then cuts out a raise and slides 11,000 across the line. It's a more or less pot-sized raise and after some thought, his opponent calls to see the put four to a straight on board. Head is undeterred though, as he quickly bets 12,000. It's a sizable portion of his opponent's stack but the in-position player calls anyway, only to be shown .
The coordinated board might have slowed some players down but not Head, who continued with his line and got some serious value after flopping top set. He was mentioned earlier in today's WSOP.com Day 1B coverage and since then, he's continued to climb, as he looks like he's one of the first players to soar past the 100,000 chip mark.
Head, who already has a seat in the 2016 WSOP Global Casino Championship thanks to his October WSOPC Southern Indiana Main Event victory, could be trending towards another deep Main Event run this weekend, as he's currently leading this Day 1B field into the midway point of Level 7.
